Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams
Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21
Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?
Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder
Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie. I live in the UK.
I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia. I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.
I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

Dear All,
I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.
I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

MonaLisa Touch

Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,
I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!
So this is my story:-
I’m 36, and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”. The following morning I woke up …

Hi everyone,
About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. Pain free sex?
Hey everyone, just a quick question, I am experiencing something very unusual. Since I have come back from my Intensive 4 day therapy session (been back 1 month) I have had completely pain free sex! It is in fact the only time I am not in pain then when we stop my pain returns to it’s daily level. Has anyone experienced this? I am not complaining by any means, it’s fantastic! I just can not understand why.

Re: Pain free sex?
Hi Claire,
The same thing happened to me! In fact sex would make the pain go away for a time. It was a bit of incentive for a while.
I did some research and wouldn't you know it endorphins are our friends, Endorphins interact with the opiate receptors in the brain to reduce our perception of pain and act similarly to drugs such as morphine and codeine.
Check this out, I guess it only works for generalised V. Meditation also releases endorphins.

Re: Pain free sex?
hey Mouse (forgive me I have forgotten your actual name?) - how rude of me.
Endorphins are great! walking seems to reduce my pain also. I find it strange though that at first sex was the very thing that caused me pain it was awful. I guess Physio is working better than I thought. Tried it again last night, no pain. We keep having sex and every time we expect it to hurt me and are amazed to learn that it is the exact opposite, where only last month it hurt so much to even attempt sex. I hope it lasts
You mention “was” – does it because you pain now? Or have you stopped having sex for another reason?

Re: Pain free sex?
Hi Claire
I say "was" because after a month of fairly low pain I am currently pain free for the first time! Wooooohoooooo!!!
I tackled this head on in the end, I got angry and attacked the bastard from every angle. I figure I can eat/drink what I want eventually so making a sacrifce would be worth it. Today I've broken the sugar diet but only because I couldn't find lunch as I'm GF and we are on a road trip - breakfast was 9 hours ago!!! My husband ate a pie in front of me I could have strangled him!
Sebbys consult with Dr Glazer recommended having sex if poss, something to do with blood flow. I meditate, try to stay social, have physo and acupuncture, sit in the sun and try to remain stress free hmmm tricky!
It sounds like you are making great progress =)

Yess!
Viki I am so happy for you how long have you been pain free for?!
I am taking the same approach and have been fairly low pain level for about 3 weeks...with the odd bad day.
I had a pain free evening last night which was lovely. Watched a movie with my friend ate chips, salsa, cheese, olives and chocolate…ooo I’m a devil aren’t I :p ? Woke up with a little pain though but it has eased off. On a scale of one to ten on pain I think I am about one right now even with sitting, I get so happy when this happens. I don’t think you truly appreciate life until you seriously suffer and these pain free days are coming more and more often. Do you still get pain with sitting?
Are you celiac on top of all this? So is my mum as well as having to have a low salt and low acid diet. She is so restricted
I have just cut out acidic food for the most part try and watch oxolates and don’t eat processed stuff. I agree the stress reduction is such a huge part of this I can’t believe how much that alone has helped.
It sounds like we both may be on the way to healing. Fingers crossed x

Re: Pain free sex?
Hi Claire,
I really hope this the beginning of the end for both of us! My pain went down gradually and then I realised it wasn't even a three anymore and I'd pretend it wasn't there when it was a one. It's funny how the brain works. So last month I kept thinking it was coming back, there was always something there but I think the physio is knocking it out. I've had a wee break from that as she's gone away but I go back next week. I do have pain in my behind and down my leg (sciatic nerve) because of the funny sitting position I adopted. Sometimes I find that if there is pain somewhere else it's a one at a time scenario.
Yes I'm coeliac - for my sins! I was diagnosed Aug 09 (on my Mother's birthday - we got her an armchair she got me a genetic mutation - thanks Mum!!!) Actually I think it's from Dad's side, he and more recently his sister have bowel cancer. No one is keen to get tested though. I lost 20 kgs in just over a month then I got a gyny problem apparently because my immune system was compromised and then the V kicked in after the surgery. It's been a great couple of years. Apparently I used to be funny.
So going sugar free for me was a bit easier (I suppose ???) since I couldn't eat half the food on the planet anyway. But I do think it's made a huge difference. Be careful with gluten Claire, more recent research is suggesting that all these nasty diseases start with gluten intolerance and then trigger into the end stage disease be it CD, osteo, thyroid etc. My daughter is currently getting the one size fits all diagnosis of IBS. When you live a disease you get a better understanding and read more than your average GP owww and sometimes even the specialist. My stupid gyny didn't know what V was and treated me like I was crazy ....WELL I was!!!
So this is my 5th pain free day! That could change when my period hits town though there is certainly a cyclic nature to it.
Good luck! I sounds like you are really attacking this from all angles and I think that 's what we need to do. Be kind to yourself and do things you enjoy. I've been smiling lately, it's kind of weird.

Re: Pain free sex?
Vicki,
I love your Humour! I don’t find many Aussies here that have one ( I am originally from UK) The longest I have had pain free is 3 days I get these maybe once a month now but It never lasts longer than that. This afternoon is a pain free one so I’m a happy girl. (it doesn’t seem to take much to make me happy these days. I used to complain about everything when I was normal now just to get some relief for an afternoon makes my week I get what you mean about pain being in different places If I have pain in my tail bone generally I wont have v pain and the other way around. Sometimes I have both, sometimes I have none.
Do you have medicare in NZ? I am currently waiting to have an appointment with my gp and nurse practitioners to sort out a EPC referral for 5 medicare subsidized physio appointments a month because I have a “chronic” (hate that word) disorder. They need to work out a “care” plan and this could not be done over the phone for some stupid reason. My GP was fine with it the receptionist was not. So I have to wait til 5th April. My wonderful Doc backdated referral letters all the way from October last year for my physio, massage, osteopathy etc. I love him He also gave me lyrica samples to try and said if I need more just to come back he said he will always give me samples because he knows how much I am forking out already. I am not sure of using the lyrica 75mg once every other day together with the endep 25mg is a good idea. He said this is fine but I don’t want to be a zombie! Plus our 1 year wedding anniversary is coming up on the 2nd and I want to be able to have a few drinks and I know I can do this on endep without any problems. At least I know I will be pain free for sex yippee
I am wary of gluten, I have read a lot about it causing problems. I don’t have IBS though I had symptoms a few months back but it only lasted 2 months or so, never diagnosed or anything. I only eat gluten on occasions if there is a gluten free option I will go for it.
Periods are the worse parts for me too. How do you go with tampons? Pads just seem to irritate my skin more even though they are 100% cotton.
Hope your pain free time lasts through the weekend xx
