Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

I only burn, so maybe this will make sense to anyone who just burns down there.
The reason why I ask this is because I use to get yeast infections more then I would get my period. So I was constantly taking the difflican pill left and right. I feel like from years and years of taking the difflican pill, that it ate away at the walls of my vagina. Causing my vagina walls to be extremely sensitive and feel like there is burns and cuts on the walls of my vagina. And that will explain why intercourse burns and when discharge/my period hits these tiny cuts and burns causes pain.

I have a lot of theories actually.

Intercourse, very painful. Horrible burn during and after. But I have noticed that certain positions causes more burn. I also noticed that if the hair on my husbands down there area gets inside, it feels like it is cutting up the walls to my vagina. From my first theory, the walls being so sensitive and his hair cutting up the walls.

Here's something else, I have read about the high oxalate foods can also be the cause or affect Vulvodynia. I haven't tried going on a low oxalate diet. But I have noticed that certain foods/beverages do cause me to burn more. Like tea(oh how I love tea) and mountain dew. I have stayed away from these items since I noticed that they caused me to burn more. Spicy food, although I don't eat a lot of it, except my husbands chilli, I have noticed I burn after I eat that too. Do any of you burn after peeing and when you have discharge/period? I believe that the high oxalates in the foods are in the fluids in our body that passes through our vagina's is what causes our vagina's to burn.

So in all I believe that high oxalates and the years of taking difflican are connected. So maybe if we find ways to repair the walls of our vagina's we wouldn't be burning down there.

I would say that most of us here have had an issue with yeast infections. I had yeast infections all the time for about a year or 2 until I made some changes. First I changed my underwear to 100% cotton. Then I started using unscented ivory soap on my private areas. I also began to cut back on junk food, not for vulvodynia, but just to be more healthy. I think all these things combined have help tremendously with that burning pain/ burning discharge, but I also did have surgery so now all those symptoms have gone away. Before the surgery though all those changes did make a difference.

And I also think there are different kinds of vulvodynia, the only thing that really affects me is wine, besides that I can eat and drink whatever I want. But I have provoked VV so I think it sounds different from what you're describing. But most of us have had yeast infections and other things whether that causes it I don't know, but it could I guess.

I used to get yeast infections every couple of weeks in my early 20s and was forever at the doctors for treatment, you couldn't buy it over the counter back then, but then he told me about another patient with the same problem who took Acidophilus and I started that and never looked back. At that time the whole "friendly bacteria" routine was unheard of and Acidophilus was incredibly expensive and hard to find too. I must have had yeast infection problems for a couple of years though beforehand. The way I understand it is the topical treatments are the ones that can lead to V and the Diflucan is the best way to treat it so if you've always used Diflucan I doubt it's the cause of your pain. I still get the odd infection nowadays and I take Diflucan for it as recommended in place of topical creams. Women who use alot of creams in the area for various things can make the nerves antsy, I used to talk to a lday on another site who had been treated for BV over and over with a topical gel and she ended up with V at the end of it from all the chemicals she used down there as they're not really designed for repeated use at that frequency.

OMG the topical for bv is so powerful I used it once, it brought me to tears because it hurts so bad. Were talking my entire vagina on the INSIDE (and of course when it dripped on the outside) felt like hell was in my hooha...
