Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Hi all,

I'm rather lost right now and in desperate need of advice from women that understand and have experience with vulvodynia - particularly vestibulodynia/vestibulitis as I have provoked, localized pain.

I have suffered for 9 years.  When I was first diagnosed I saw specialists and tried treatment with Nizoral (ketaconazole?) for yeast and amytriptiline to no avail. The next step was biofeedback, but I could not continue due to lack of funds and I was no longer having sex at this point.

Fast forward to now, I have recently seen Marek Jantos (Melbourne, AU) who specializes in biofeedback and internal physiotherapy to cure pain associated with muscle tightness and pelvic floor issues.  I thought I was on the right track to recovery finally.  First appointment was fine and my work with the biofeedback machine over the following month was great.

But during my second appointment, when he still could not get his fingers inside due to terrible discomfort and pain, he looked down at my v area and said that the internal skin was too red and inflamed, and that I had yeast.  He told me to go to the chemist and double up on a few treatments to Fix the problem.  I was skeptical.  Still, I followed his instructions and used canestan cream in conjunction with 2 diflucan tablets, and now the pain with sex is worse if anything, and stings a lot more than usual.  Great.  I know that now he will say that he cannot continue treatment until this apparent "yeast" issue is solved.

Well that's all fine and dandy, but I never test positive for yeast at my doctor.  I realize I could still have a chronic yeast issue though, but I don't know and I don't know how to find out. I now have another appointment booked with another doctor at my normal clinic, for a second opinion, and I need some advice from you all.  What should I do now? What should I be tested for? What treatments am I a good candidate for? I am so lost - I really thought Marek would be the end of the road. The fact that he is less than capable of treating me right now is a real downer.  I guess I'm not at the stage where I can do biofeedback yet as I thought. He is also insanely expensive, and I can't keep going to appointments where he takes one look at me and says no, I need to go away and do such and such.

If you can offer any advice as to treatments I can ask for or try, or tests I should have (all STDs ruled out numerous times) I'd be very grateful.

Should also add, i was on the pill (Yasmin) until a few weeks go when I stopped, in the hope that it might change something for the better.

Thanks in advance for your help.  So confused!

Tyger

I'm sorry I don't have much advice to offer as far as the biofeedback and testing go, but I too am suffering from redness and swelling, which I suspect is linked to yeast. Unfortunately Diflucan isn't touching it and I can't see my doctor till Monday ugh! I was taking the generic of Yasmin and quit about 2 and 1/2 weeks ago, started my period and have been suffering ever since. I suspect hormones triggered a nasty yeast infection.

How long were you on birth control? Have you had your hormones tested? I haven't, but that may help. If my specialist has any insight when I see her on Monday I'll let you know. At this point I imagine you've been tested for non-Albicans yeast? It's strange because I tested negative for yeast with one doctor and a week later positive with another. It's very frustrating.

Best of luck!

I wouldn't suspect that it could be v BV an std trich I would stop treating it until you go to the doc. I was taking a ton of stuff prescribed by q doctor that I didnt need and it made my problems worse. Go to a doc before treating it even they are lost sometimes be careful.

I know that there are some ladies on here who have done very well with internal work and had red inflamed skin until their pelvic floors were released properly, the misconception that red skin is always yeast or BV is why we girls end up going round in circles and using creams that make us worse. My physio says the way to treat with the inflamed vestibule present is to go for the deeper muscles first as you can hook your fingers around the inflammation to get to them and as the area starts to let go and blood flow returns and the redness goes away. I find if I use dilators for a while, about 15 minutes a night and just leaving the largest one I can in place while I do something relaxing like read takes the red skin right down and lessens the pain considerably. I have other issues that I won't bore you with or I'm sure I'd be painfree again long ago but it might help to try the dilators on your own first and see how you get on before you go back to Marek, and please avoid the creams because they irritate already irritated skin.
