Amtriptyline, baclofen, gabapentin cream for provoked vestibuldynia

Mon Nov 20, 2017 8:15 pm by WVR00

Hello,
Has anyone had success with this cream in helping their vulvodynia? How long has it taken to help? I’ve had some success with it, but not completely better. I’ve been on it for a month. I️ was hoping to hear from some ladies who have had major success with this cream. I’m hoping for some encouragement here. This condition is so frustrating. I’m lucky enough to have access to two …

Hi there,

After years of being misdiagnosed etc as most women have on this forum I have finally been diagnosed with vulvodynia (yay) and have been given the lowest dose of an antidepressant called Amitriptyline. Has anyone been on this before and has any positive (or negative) news to give me? Im feeling down already and I've only been taking it for a few days, I don't have much hope of it …

New diagnosis, any advice whilst I wait for a specialist

Wed Oct 25, 2017 1:47 pm by Julesyjules

Hi,

I'm new here and wanted to ask for some advice whilst I wait to see a specialist nurse.

After urinary problems which lasted 7 weeks, I finally saw a urologist, who on examination discovered significant inflammation and called in a gynaecologist, who diagnosed vestibulitis. They referred me to a nurse who specialises in vulvar skin issues. That was 5 weeks ago, and I'm still waiting for the …

New w/ Secondary Provoked Vestibuldynia

Wed Apr 26, 2017 11:46 pm by Birdy

Hi everyone,

I'm here because I'm pretty sure I have secondary provoked vestibuldynia, even though my gyno is still "optimistic" it is not.  My problem started six months ago when I got my second UTI in as many months (after going 25 years of life without one) and then ended up with a bad yeast infection (also my first one ever) thanks to the antibiotics.  Ever since the yeast …

Newly diagnosed

Tue Oct 10, 2017 8:37 pm by Brevispink

Hello everyone. I have recently been diagnosed with unprovoked vulvodynia and would really appreciate some advice and support. I have had a chronic urine infection for 16 months and was on antibiotics for 9 of those months. I have been very uncomfortable for the entire time, but now I have absolutely unbearable stinging and burning all day with itching too. The infection has just about gone, …

Recent "Poke" Pain - So Confused/Losing My Mind

Thu Oct 12, 2017 9:26 am by kelseybeth23

Long Story, but I am losing my mind and getting really depressed, so if I tell the full story maybe someone can help me.

Back in August I started to get an itch down there. Normally, in the past, when this would happen, I would change the way I wore my clothes, take more baths instead of showers, and use Monistat. This time, after about two weeks of no relief, I started to get concerned. I was …

Has anyone had problems with micturate urge?

Post  Lena_84 on Thu Sep 12, 2013 4:29 am

As I have painful urination, some times It seems I want to pee every hour (but I drink much), but sometimes I don't feel any urge Sad Even in the morning I don't feel any urge. Since vulvodynia has come I have pain/discomfort in pubis area. Sometimes It seems to me that signal for urination hides inside pubis or something like that, that's why I can't feel urge Sad Sometimes I think that my brain stops these signals as urination is painful for me (like hot water). When I feel urge it isn't as it was before, strange feeling. I'm scared of future worsening. Or may be it is side effects of amitriptyline/lyrica?
Has anyone had similar problems?

I have a lot of bladder problems different to you though but my specialist tells me that vulvadynia can cause irritable bladder. I go to bed at night and straight away I'm up and down to the toilet 6 to 7 times sometimes with burning, needless to say I have had many UTI test done all negative. I take a valium if it goes on for more than three nights and it relaxes the bladder and I can get some sleep. I know one of the side affects of amil med is slow urination. Good luck

I'm having the same problem right now. It comes and goes but gets worse before period and after. I pee every hour on the hour, right before bed and right when I wake up. If I drink normal temp water, it's even worse. If I drink cold water it's not as bad. I can usually sleep through the night but I try and stop drinking 2 hrs before bed.

Have you ever tried acupuncture? I've heard that acupuncture works very well for generalized unprovoked V, especially for pain during urination.

I tryed, but it didn't help. I think it depends on acupuncturist's experience. Mine has never treated vuvodynia. Also it depends on points which are treated. We treated pudendal nerve. May be we should treat something else and other points. I also noticed that my hips, buttocks and genital area's sensation are changed.I did't say about it to my acupuncturist. But definitely I feel in strange way while sitting or when clothes touch this area.

Sorry to hear that acupuncture didn't work for you Sad
However, I believe it's important to find an acupunturist specialized in vulva. I've spoken with an acupuncturist about my condition but he refused to treat me stating that he has no experience in vulva. I did some research and found out there are some medical doctors (even some gynaecologists and urogynecologists) who treat vulvodynia with medical acupuncture and neural therapy. Now I'm in a different treatment so if it won't work, I'll definitely give a try to that medicial acupuncture. Because if V has something to do with nerves, neural theraphy is worth a shot.
I hope this helps you.

Unfortunately, noone specializes in vulva in Russia and Japan. I was treated by neuropathologist. I think it's the best in my situation to be treated by someone who knows about nerves. We hadn't much time to try everything. This time I asked another person (who also doesn't have experience) and she answered that she will try.But I think it's better to be treated by the doctor.
Because my symptoms vary from from day or month it was difficult to say what exactly was problem. We treated just painful side, not in whole.May be it's better to treat in whole.Question

Aana, now I'm thinking about dysaesthesia or paresthesia or something like that. I noticed that sometimes I have a slight burning in my face in the morning when I wake up.
May be I have problems in general? Sad
