Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I'm sorry im rambling

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Diagnosed Recently

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Hello ladies. So i have had the symptoms since may 2013 as some may already know. My pain was at about a 2 and has progressively turned to about and 8! I havent had any treatment because it is extremely expensive since i do not have health insurance. i have seen 4 different gynecologists and they have all told me different things. The last doctor said he believed i had vestibulitis but didnt give me anything! This was about 2 months ago. I basically don't know who to see next, chiropractor? Physical therapy? Urologist? Dermatologist? I have no idea what to do. I was thinking id see a chiropractor because i have always had lower back problems and when i lay flat or the ground i hear a crack, like my tailbone crack or something. If i squeeze real tight like doing a kegel it cracks also. Anyway, i had sex for the 1st time since i first felt this pain and i was able to do it just fine. i did it three other times but felt some pain after awhile of going at it. The last time was the worst, the sex was pretty rough and went on for some time and after that i was in excruciating pain. I felt like i had a knife stuck in my vagina, i could barely sit or do anything. I took vicodin and xanex and that pain went away. 2 days later i still feel like i have a huge cut and i feel pressure and stinging/burning pain. Vicodin doesnt help in the least. I just feel swollen and it hurts a bit to pee. Ive also had a lot of discharge lately, even before sex, its super watery but whitish also. Would a warm sitz bath in salt water maybe soothe swelling? Is there anything anyone would suggest?

Hi Quell, So sorry to hear you're having such a rough time. People to try would be a vulval dermatologist to rule out any skin conditions, a physio to assess your pelvic floor & help with back pain, your doctor to try different pain relief (have you tried lidocaine yet? it didn't help me but it has helped some of the other ladies on here). I've never seen a chiro so I can't comment about those. You could use an ice pack just as a temporary fix to help with the swelling (don't apply directly to the skin - wrap in a towel or something) & a heat pad for the back pain. Lay off sex for a bit too to give you body a chance to recover. Hope this helps.

Hi quell honey, I was hoping you hadn't posted in a while as you were feeling a lot better! Sorry to hear all this. I'm in the same dilemma as you. I don't know who to see but I'm going to ask to be referred to anyone and everyone! I read something about if you have had anything which disrupts the vagina, such as thrush, cystitis or sex, the pain signals and nerves in the body get confused and still feel pain even if everything is healthy. Sounds weird but i dont know an awful lot about medical stuff, could be the case I guess? ! I'm being seen on the 18th nov. I will tell them everything and bore them with info! I will consider botox and acupuncture even though both terrify me. Me and my vagina have majorly fallen out lol.

Quell in that situation normally the noise you hear would be your SI joints so try a Women's Health Physio who knows about both V and pelvic alignment.

Thanks ladies for the advice. A few days after this happened i saw a dermatologist, who was kind enough to waive the office visit because my friend workds in his office. He took a picture of the area, he was concerned it might be an early stage of lichen sclerosus. He perscribed me clobetasol ointment, and im supposed to use it for a week. Itll be my 3rd day using today and i feel the same, so the next step is a biopsy.

Hi Quell, glad you managed to see the specialist - how are you getting on ? Is the ointment helping yet?
