Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Question ladies...

Does a probiotic help if you have a stubborn yeast infection or would it make it worse?
Will a probiotic diminish a infection in the vagina or just the intestinal tract?

Heres a little Hx:
Had a yeast infection for 8 months in 2012. I did not show normal symptoms (no discharge, no foul smell) but i had a horrible itch. I used vagisil while waiting for doc appt, which helped but did not take itch away permanently. Dr said it was dermatitis and was given topical steriods. I used this for 8 months. I was told because i'm a little overweight that was the reason why I itched. I knew it was a yeast infection so the dr finally checked me (no previous pap smear when itch first started) because my bitching and HELLO YEAST INFECTION. I also had another stubborn one 6 months ago but as of now I dont know if I had ever gotten rid of it.

I'm sure putting steroids on a yeast infection for 8 months messed me up. I keep getting them every month. Started taking Diflucan 1x per week for the last 2 months and it really helped my symptoms, a life saver, but im running out. Dr said diflucan won't help me because this yeast is "stubborn."
Im running out of Diflucan and I dont want to use creams because they seem to irritate me.

Im open to suggestions, ideas, experience, etc.

Thanks,
Eviebee

Evie, I've been wondering if my vv is a yeast issue. When I did have a thrush infection it felt exactly like this but more itchy. Now I just feel so sore all the time but not really itchy. I have researched a theory that a yeast infection can seep under the skin and continue to cause irritation...gross thought! I want to order fem dophilus or something to try out. Have you been taking anything?

I've had a yeast infection all my life with stupid obgyns ignoring my requests for help . In my country of birth diflucan was super expensive so I tried pessaries and other useless crap.
Right now I'm taking Bio Kult Candea, a mix or probiotics and garlic plus grapefruit seed extract which is a natural antibiotic and I have finally seen a change in that part, but it's one day at a time after so many years. My yeast does not show up in tests, but now I know I have it because diflucan eradicates the horrible discharge. sob
Some women have had luck with Optibac, a different kind of yeast which eats up Candida...

An antibiotic wouldn't help yeast tho as it's not a bacterial infection.

Yeast Infection Problems Empty Re: Yeast Infection Problems

Probiotics do help for a lot of people! What we know about most surfaces on our body and GI tract is that they're going to be covered in some population of microorganism. A big area of research right now is understanding what kinds of bacteria are common in healthy people, versus what kinds show up in specific diseases. It has been researched most heavily for gastrointestinal issues, but is also very relevant to gynecologic issues. These microorganisms all communicate with each other to determine which ones will be the dominant species, and which ones will remain just a minor player in their local environment. Yeast is actually present normally in many women's vaginal flora, but the key is that it does not overtake the other species, and thus doesn't cause any problems (assuming no yeast allergy). It is easily re-introduced to the vaginal flora if it is removed, because yeast is pretty hardy and shows up everywhere without invitation. The key then becomes figuring out how to make it such that the yeast do not over-proliferate, and instead remain a minor player like they do in most women. One method of accomplishing this is making sure there is a balance of normal, healthy vaginal flora present, in order to stave the yeast off. Probiotics are frequently helpful for this reason: you can get the yeast to go away in the first place with antifungal therapy, but they will keep coming back unless the environment becomes a bad one for them to grow in. The probiotics won't help with invasive yeast that reside below the skin's surface, but long courses of antifungals can frequently take care of that issue. Hope this helps!

this sounds like what I experience. the weird thing is that I've been tested for yeast many times throughout the years and it always comes back negative. now I am beginning to doubt this because I recently realized that I've had a full blown yeast infection for 6 months that never completely went away and when it started and was at its worst I had my doc do a test that she said was normal. I swear, I feel like I can't trust ANYTHING docs say anymore. it's really awful.

Alessandria - sorry to pester you with so many questions, but I have another one for you! How do you know if you have a yeast infection deep in the skin? I am not entirely convinced my issues are not yeast related. I take two different types of probiotics and when I started the first one, I felt horrible. Almost like I had the flu. I am now think it could have been yeast "die off". When I started the second probiotic (different strains), I started feeling better a day after I took them. Some of my irritation and swelling cleared up and really hasn't come back. Now I am left with on raw feeling spot on my vestibule and irritation and out-right pain in the first inch of my vagina. I don't have any abnormal discharge, but I have noticed my pain is cyclical. It's the worst about 10-12 days before my period and almost completely gone when I have my period. Last dr rolled her eyes when I suggested cyclical yeast. I tried googling cyclical vaginitis and vaginosis but there is not a whole lot out there. Any good resources you can point me to? I'd love to know more about these cyclical types of vaginitis before my next appt.
