Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams
Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21
Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?
Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder
Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie. I live in the UK.
I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia. I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.
I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

Dear All,
I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.
I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch
Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091
Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,
I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!
So this is my story:-
I’m 36, and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”. The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help
Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124
Hi everyone,
About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

skin tearing
It seems my skin has become much more fragile since having V. There is a small tear or fissure at 6 oclock. Has anyone else experienced this and do you have any advice on how to heal or prevent it?

Re: skin tearing
Yes but I also had a cervical infection and.yeast it.only happened when I had sex. If it.happens when youre having sex make sure lube and lots of it. And make sure you dont have any infections!

Re: skin tearing
I get this too with sex. My doctor recommended Slippery stuff and PT. she said she thinks I'm tensing up during sex w/out realizing it causing skin tears. I've had a few sessions w/ PT but started to have increased nerve-like symptoms. Scared me so I stopped doing exercises. I'm not sold on PT yet in my case. I think my skin is tearing due to inflammation that I'm not able to control yet. I'm currently experimenting with different soaps and started a probiotic. Waiting game now. Also, just got my slippery stuff.....haven't tried it yet
I worry about the scar tissue from the tears. :/

Re: skin tearing
Don't give up on PT if the PT says you are tight. My PT explained to me that sometimes it makes things worse right after a session and sure enough some times the next day is horrible but then in the end the intensity is less. Some sessions don't cause it to get worse and I don't feel a difference. Don't give up though if PT has diagnosed you with pelvic floor dysfunction.

I've used "Yes" too , it's good. My dr recommended "Slippery Stuff". I just got it from Amazon. Haven't tried it yet.

Re: skin tearing
"slippery stuff" is nice, feels natural. I think I like it a bit more than "yes" but I'll keep experimenting as best I can .
I still get a tear at 6 o'clock despite the lubrication. It's starting to freak me out.
I don't like to post negative things but I guess I need to vent today. You would think the coping aspect of this would get easier over the years but I feel like my abilities to cope are getting weaker and weaker. It almost feels like desperation. I have 2 small children and the distraction of this is breaking my heart. I wish I could crawl into bed today and stay there.
I am struggling to understand. I realize I have skin sensitivities to products but there must be something missing. I am better in some ways and worse in others. The puzzle is mind boggling and the fear of products, food, sex, clothing is to the point of ridiculous.
The tearing during sex triggered all of this negativity today. I am sorry to pass it on.
Has anyone had healing of these tears? I pray the skin will heal.

Re: skin tearing
Use a ton of lube my bf and I will put more on as it starts to dry... also there is a surgery they can do to prevent u from tearing. Look into any bcps or condoms your using too. Condoms can be very irritating I did away with them cuz they irritated me so much. But im also in a committed relationship so I don't recommend that if youre not exclusive (I always used them until recently).

Dear Leslieg
Yes its ok to vent negative feelings on here, if you can't vent them on here where can you?
I am in complete agreement with every thing you said. It must be so hard having 2 young children and having 'V'. Mine are all young adults so it is easier for me. I am now going into my seventh year of living with vulvodynia and my resilience to it is ever decreasing. I try to always be positive but I feel it is our right to be able to have a rant too.
Vulvodynia rules my life plain and simple. I forget what I used to feel like before it. What is normal ??
I am actually having a tear writing this as I am at the point of , What do I try next ??
Any way I think you are doing an awesome job having this condition and raising 2 children, give your self a mighty pat on the back.
I use olive oil for lubrication and when I am starting to feel dry and tight down there....I haven't ever torn but I have always used olive oil even before Vulvodynia so maybe that's helped. I am premenopausal and feel like I am getting dryer so the olive oil helps me. Another great cream is bepanthon it is a nappy rash cream and acts like a barrier maybe you could try that.
Much Love sent your way xxx Z
