Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I'm sorry im rambling

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Diagnosed Recently

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Hi everyone,

I'm 25 years old and I have suffered from vulvodynia for as long as I can remember. I spent most of my teen years being told I had some sort of eczema/skin problems down there - I tried all the creams out there which would never work and doctors would never believe me that I hadn't tried to use them as I still felt pain down there after. I felt really embarrased and hurt by this so I stopped seeking help for a while. Eventually I decided to go back to my doctor where I was sent to a different hospital and I was evetually diagnosed with vulvadynia a few years ago. Everything fell into place and made sense which was such a relief - but I have unsuccessfully had any improvements since then. I've tried various meds including amitriptiline and gabepentin which didn't work - however I sometimes wonder if I didn't use them for long enough which is why they never worked. I'm currently seeing a psychologist/counsellor who has told me the pain will never go away and that I need to learn to live with it - do you ladies on here agree with that? Should I give up on trying to find something that will work? Or should I keep trying to find new things? Vulvadynia effects my life greatly - I've only ever had one boyfriend and sex was usually painful and since then I have totally avoided relationships despite really wanting a boyfriend as I just can't deal with the sex side to it.

Any advice would be much appreciated and I am so glad I have found this site where there are lots of others who also share my pain - I look forward to talking to you Smile

Thanks
x

Hello lils.panda:) I really don't want to believe your doctor, I think we will all get better if we believe. So I think you should keep trying. By the way, how long did you use Gabapentin?

Hi there,

That's terrible being told you will be stuck with this forever and to deal with it. Sad
I have been told that many times too...but I refuse to believe it, and my current doctor doesn't think I will be stuck with this forever, it's just trying to find a solution that's hard.

Have you had your hormones and PH checked over a 4 week cycle? Have you had a biopsy done? And regular swab tests? Have you been food and chemical allergy tested? Do you have any other health issues?

Sounds like you need to find a new doctor and different form of psychological support. All the ladies on here are very lovely and helpful Smile

Thanks for your replies door12 and sailor_moon Smile

I'm so glad you have both said that I shouldn't just accept my problem and not keep trying. Reading other posts on here has given me hope that there are other things I can try.

Door12: tbh I can't remember how long I used gabapentin for.....maybe for a few months? Is this something that you have tried that has been successful?

Sailor_moon: I've never had my hormones and PH checked - could this be something that effects it? I used to suffer from vulvodynia before I started periods so that could rule that possibility out? I have had a biopsy done and it didn't come back showing anything. I think I've had swab tests in the past but not regularly or recently. I have been allergy tested and it showed nothing. I suffer from various mental health issues (depression and an eating disorder) and I also suffer from IBS and eczema. Whats your story - what stage are you currently at?

Thanks both Smile
x

Oh hi again:) No the reason I asked is because I'm on Lyrica now and it's been 2 months and people say that pregabalin and gabapentin takes a few months to be effective. I'm a little discouraged to be honest learning that it hasn't helped you..

It was a good few years ago I tried gabapentin and I don't remember much about it but I think I was only on a low dose - I am thinking about asking my doctor to try it again and go on a higher dose or maybe try Lyrica as I hadn't heard of that until coming on here. I just want to find something that work Crying or Very sad have you tried anything else other than Lyrica? Thanks for replying Smile

I just replied to your private message, but don't ever give up on trying to get better. You should never learn or accept a life living in pain. Most girls do get better so you need to believe you will be one of those girls.
Look forward to your reply xx
