Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Just wondering if everyone else has acidic urine too? Wondering if that is part of the puzzle? I have a urine ph of 5.75 in the morning and then 6.0 before bed. It never gets close to 7 in morn or at night.

Does anyone else test the ph of their urine? Empty Hmmm...

Post  Mandadity Sat Jul 28, 2012 2:41 am

I never check my own ph levels but I most definitely feel I have acidic urine. I been saying that for years, all because if im even in a little bit of pain, and i pee....my pain can shoot up from 2/10 to 7/10 in the split second it takes for urine to hit that part of me that hurts...then as im peeing, the pain gets worse and/or just doesnt go away until urine has passed for a min or two.

So I dont test it, I have had it tested before and it was horrible(dunno the #) but it could have souly been about me taking hot baths for hours so the pain would stop(at the time) but I dunno.

Does anyone else test the ph of their urine? Empty acidity

Post  Think Inside The Box Fri Aug 10, 2012 8:28 pm

I'm not sure about acidity, what I do know is that (sorry if this is major tmi, Embarassed ) my healthy urine tastes - (yes, tastes, again, sorry, if peeing feels uncomfortable i touch my urethra with a clean fingertip and then touch my tongue, not like I drink a glass of pee) of nothing but a little salt. I can tell the instant I begin to get a UTI because it becomes bitter, the more bitter the worse the infection. Bitter = alkaline, the larger the pH number the more alkaline something is. Very alkaline urine also burns and stings horribly and makes urinating excruciating (and seriously increases the misery of my vulvodynia). Yeah, the fingertip dip is a bit gross, but it's instantly available the second something feels 'off', totally private, free, and 100% reliable.

Maybe acidic urine can be caused by a different kind of bacteria or fungus??

Mandadity - try something called "d-mannose powder" (or d-mannose sugar, same thing). You can get it at a health food store, it's a concentrated form of the same sugar that's in cranberries and it can stop a UTI (at least it stops mine) dead in its tracks. You just mix a small spoonful in water and drink it. I have never been so grateful for a treatment. Between the D-M powder and my fingertip dip I can stop most infections before they're a problem at all.

Urine pH values:

In a pH balanced body. urine is slightly acid in the morning, (pH = 6.5 - 7.0) generally becoming more alkaline (pH = 7.5 - 8.0) by evening in healthy people primarily because no food or beverages are consumed while sleeping. Whereas, during the day the body buffers the pH of the food and beverages consumed by releasing electrolytes and the pH level goes up. This process allows the kidneys to begin the elimination process slowly.

Outside the range implies that cells are being burdened with caustic pH fluids within and without surroundings. Long term experience outside this range is unhealthy. However, the pH of urine can range from an extremely unhealthy low of 4.5 to a high if 8.5, which it tolerates a little easier, depending on the acid/base status of the extracellular fluids. A high pH value may indicate the body is over buffering to compensate for a physiological system that is too acidic.

Figure 4. Range of Urine pH Values.
UNHEALTHY pH < 6.0
NEUTRAL pH = 6.5 TO 8.0
UNHEALTHY pH > 8.5

When urine pH is 6.0 and below for extended periods of time, it is an indication that the body's fluids elsewhere are too acid, and it is working overtime to rid itself of an acid medium. Thus, when urine pH is normal, then the blood pH is normal, but when the urine pH is overly acid, the body releases too many electrolytes to keep the pH level normal and maintain life.

Does anyone else test the ph of their urine? Empty pH makes a huge difference for me!

Post  Lulu Mon Jan 05, 2015 6:10 pm

I know I'm posting on a very old thread, but I wanted to address this for future searchers. I have 7 years of slowly getting worse and trying everything. HRT, various Rx, low-ox diet, PT, etc. etc. Things helped a little but never got rid of the burning pain. (I mostly have vestibulitis). I came across someone mentioning pH and decided to start testing. Sure enough, I'm a 5 or as low as the strip will go, all day long. SO! I googled and found a few sources with info. alkaline sisters.com has some good info and a very hand food list. I started eating cucumber though out the day, eating more veggies, less bread and meat. (I wasn't a big meat eater anyway). I take cal/mag liquid (Solary) first thing before my coffee. I do a green drink daily- you can juice kale, cucumber, etc., but I buy a powdered Spirulina-based drink called Super Food from Dr. Schulze. I also take Cell Food - which will have a fast alkalizing effect, but it's $$ and getting too alkaline can be uncomfortable too. Anyway! I'm a week in and haven't had the burning pain for 3 days! Yay!! I think I will add Spirulina or similar greens in tablet form for when I'm out and about and decide to have pizza or coffee or other acid-spiking stuff. **Small note about the acidic food list, lemon is on the list as alkalizing, though it is acidic, but it does not have an alkalizing effect on me at all! (ouch!). I'm gonna miss having lemon in my water, as I have always done at restaurants. :/

I have always been a carboholic. I love bread, pasta, rice, and chocolate more than anything. So, even though I thought I had a healthy diet with very little meat and dairy intake, I think my diet was a perfect storm for having acidic urine which was burning me daily.

I want to add that if you have urinary issues - UTI, urgent need to pee, UTI symptoms without an infection... I was greatly helped by my PT putting me on a pee schedule. Every 3 hours. AND I no longer drink a whole bunch of water at a time, but sip all day. Boom! No more UT issues. I used to guzzle 8-16 oz of water whenever I got thirsty. Now I make sure not to drink more than 4 oz at a time. Can't believe what a diff it makes!

I hope this is helpful to someone!!
