Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I'm sorry im rambling

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Diagnosed Recently

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Hi Ladies,

Some of you may have seen my posts back in October/ November about some pain that I had been experiencing. I thought I may have just had a skin irritation, but unfortunately the pain has continued since then. To back up a bit, I have PVD - Provoked Vestibulodynia. I had a full vestibulectomy on July 6, 2012. I had been just about 100% pain free up until
October 7, 2015. I started having constant pain that was worse when I sat for long periods of time. After many visits to my GP, Dermatologist and my Vulvodynia specialist we ruled out any possible skin conditions. At my last visit to my V specialist, she told me that my pain is centered around my urethra - weird to me since my pain was never anywhere near my urethra before surgery. At the moment I'm on Nortriptyline just to see if it would make a difference. I used it years ago before surgery and it didn't help then. Still isn't helping now so I'm probably going to discontinue taking it some time next week - after consulting with my specialist of course. I've made an appointment with my surgeon, Dr. Andrew Goldstein, for the first week of February. I'm hoping he can shed some more light to this. I'm hoping it's something that my Dr.'s just aren't seeing. Maybe some sort of treatment or a revision on my surgery could help get rid of this awful pain. What scares me is my V specialist told me that the nerves can grow back after surgery, it takes years for them to grow back tho because apparently nerves grow back at a very slow rate. BUT why would nerves grow back where they were never removed or start to hurt in a place they never hurt before.

I'm hoping one of you ladies could shed some light for me on what's happening to me. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Hope you are all doing well! Also, Happy New Year Ladies!

Vestibulectomy - 4 years later (UPDATE) Empty Re: Vestibulectomy - 4 years later (UPDATE)

Hi Jen.

I had a vestibulectomy January 2015, it was successful for many months up until around July time I think, when I like you started to get the pain around my urethra.
I panicked so much that I rang my specialist at like 10pm on the night! I thought my vulvodynia had come back, but he told me that IT COULDNT.
He said if I was treated by pain medication then there would be a high chance it could come back, but because I had the nerves removed around the vestibule there was no chance of it returning. Anyhow, after he told me that he made me an app to see him the following week, it turned out the pain was coming from my anterior vestibular glands. They're two small holes either side of your urethra, as soon as he touched them with the Q tip my legs shut together and I just felt like kicking him! It was so painful, he removed them with a laser I think it's called "Diathermy".

I don't know if this will be the same for you, but if it is then do not worry.
It's January 2016, and I am pain free again x

chelss,

Thanks for the response! I'll have to bring that up to my doctor when I see him. That sounds like a good possibility for me. I'm glad you're now pain free! It gives me hope that soon I will be too. I'm hoping my issue, whatever it may be, can be taken care of as simply as that! Does the laser treatment hurt at all? How long until you noticed the pain was gone? Was it instant?
