Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Hi, I was a bit reluctant about registering and posting here.. But this forum has helped me a lot so far. I read it almost everyday since I realized my problems down there weren't caused by an infection.

Well, I think I can skip the emotional journey, as all of you know what it is like. I am 24 years old, apparently healthy, no UTIs in the past and a couple of yeast infections, but many years ago. But like a couple of months ago this mess started. I am not sure why, I think there are many culprits. This year I was having more stress than usual because of university and my job. Suddenly, after my period (February) I felt a bit discomfort down there and I went to the doctor, who told me that I probably had yeast and prescribed me with clotrimazol. Well, I was not sure, because the only sympton I had was my inflammated vagina. No discharge at all! It was cleared up but it happened to me every month after my period till May. I went every month to the doctor, and she told me it was normal due to the ph changes during our periods. But I started to worry and to be really annoyed, plus the stress I was having in May, which was way higher than before. The results? My inflammation did not go away and I started to have a burning sensantion and what it seemed to be an UTI. But after the medication (antibiotics, antifungals, among others) and some negative cultures I had no clue what was going on. So were the doctors, neither obgyns, urologists and a dermatologist.

After one month and a half waitung for my body to cure and to get back I started to freak out and to google my symptoms. Vulvodynia came across. By that moment I was starting to feel my muscles (including my anus area) really really tight. I couldn't go to the toilet and I swear I never ever had problems. And I asked my boyfriend to help me, since he is working as a PT in a hospital. He pretty unterstand what is going on and we are fighting together, hopefully.

Well, after going to four different doctors with no relief (appart from a mild improvement thanks to corticoids and zinc sulfate, which was suggested by a dermatologist who saw the redness and irritation and a couple of 'eczemas' according to her), my mom thought of a friend of our family who is working as a doctor. He is specialized in muscular and nerve related traumas and he was the First one understanding how I was suffering and what could be going on (since apparently I had no infections). After an appointment he examined me and found out that probably, due to the inflammatory process (triggered by tampons? I still don't know but I am suspicious), my area was hypersensitive and my nerves were all crazy sending wrong signals. And, of course, he detected muscular problems, both inside and outside.

He has told me to use a compound cream of amitriptiline and baclofen and I have already started with a couple of PTs to solve the Problem and desensitize it.

And now I am at this point. I have the burning sensation both inside and outside, itchiness (only sometimes), redness and irritation in the vestibular area and ocassional "pricks" in my lady parts and my back part.

Well... I feel happy since I am already on track, today I had my second session with the PT and I think I was lucky enough to be treated as fast as I did, only two months before it all started.

But, as I newby here, I have a couple of questions to you Smile I have read like a thousand posts and I would like to ask for advice. I will tell my doctor, but I have checked here some sucessful stories related to the use of amitriptiline and Lyrica. Another doctor suggested me to take a minimun dose of Lyrica (75 mg) to help with the nerve pain. Do you think it would help me? I mean, taking topical ami and simultaneously Lyrica (orally).

Aaaand, regarding the soreness... I am not sure what to do. ATM no soaps, no nasty chemicals (but i want to look for "natural" laundry soap and gel), only water to clean the area, no jeans, cotton undies. It is still irritated but I am also a little bit worried about my "flora" or whatever is inside of me. The smell is a bit stronger and my discharge is also a little bit sticky, but far to be copious (I also feel a lot of dryness since all this started). I was wondering if it would be okay to continue on the probiotics, since I think that appart from the muscle/nerve problem, something else could be wrong inside as I took a lot of different medications in june (and maybe my good flora is still recovering or I don't know).

Thank u very much for reading me... I know it is really really long. And so sorry for the misspelling, I am not English speaker. Keep fighting, girls!

Firstly, your English is great!

Secondly, topical amitriptyline and oral Lyrica - obviously I can't say for definite if it would help you. We all respond so differently to medications. What I can tell you is that I was taking oral amitriptyline and oral Lyrica simultaneously and they are often prescribed in combination. I didn't have any terrible side effects although I do feel much more alert since I changed to duloxetine. I'd say it's worth trying Lyrica. If you don't find any benefit then it's one option you can cross off the list of possibilities. If it helps and side effects are minimal then you'll be glad you tried it Smile

Thanks Smile It made me smile. I do love languages and I am a translator.

I think I will definitely ask my doctor. He is doing great and since we have a close relationship since I was a child I really trust him. By know, the constant burning is vanished most of the time and I am still like super sensitive (that means, after wiping or by touching it it hurts and burns). At least I am far better than a month ago. The thing is that what worries me the most is the hypersensibility mostly on two tiny spots at both sides of my vestibule and I am just freaking out all the time because I want to get better. Then I remember the key word, patience. Sorry I am beating around the bush, haha.

I hope time and all I am doing right now will help. I am always terrified thinking about not being able to intimate again with my beloved bf. But today I am really positive and I think it will be okay. Thanks for your answer and your personal opinion Smile Smile
