Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Hi there

I have been suffering from vulvodynia for 15 years. After inititally trying to find treatment 15 years ago, and having several doctors tell me they couldnt help me or did not know what was wrong, I have recently started trying to  look for help again.

A gynecologist performed a biopsy on me (the results just showed minor signs of irritation). I am also currently involved in physical therapy to relax my pelvic floor. However, my physio believes my tight pelvic floor is a consequence, rather than the cause, of my pain. I belive my pain may be neurological.

Is there anyone here from Perth, Australia? Are there any good, knowledgable doctors re vulvodynia in Perth (or anywhere in Australia)? Has anyone in Australia had experience with getting a vestibulectomy? I am desperate for help and will do anything. I need to see a doctor who has a good grasp on vulvodynia since I think my pain is caused by multiple factors. Any advice would be so greatly appreciated, I am struggling to cope with this pain.

I'm not in Australia so I don't know how much help I can be. But presumably there is a register of doctors registered to practice in Australia - is this something you could refer to? Would it list specialities? I found this: http://www.ranzcog.edu.au/ Maybe if you e-mailed them they could suggest a specialist near where you live?
