Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Diagnosed Recently

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Wife with Vulvadynia scheduled for surgery Empty Wife with Vulvadynia scheduled for surgery

Hello, I am new to the forum. I live in Florida and I am grateful for the information on this forum. My wife is scheduled for surgery in a few weeks for a vulvar vestibulectomy but received a second opinion today and is obtaining a third opinion next week from a doctor Jay Trabin in West Palm Beach. She has provoked vulvar vestibulitis which she has always had with some pelvic floor muscle spasms and atropic vaginitis (Thinning of the vaginal walls and decreased lubrication likely due to the removal of her ovaries about 5 years ago). She also had a full preventative Mastectomy about 6 years ago and continues to experience pain and numbness so she is naturally wary of another surgery for he vestibulitis. We learned about Dr. Trabin from this site and also from the nva. She is meeting with him on Tuesday next week. She is scheduled for surgery Feb 1st with Dr. Kurt Christopher who is
originally from New York but recently relocated to Florida. He does not have a permanent office and is a little new to Florida due to his relocation but he seems very knowledgeable and experienced with this surgery. He indicated that there is a gamut of things that can be tried but are not likely to help based on her history and said she would really need the surgery. He offered that she try the Capascian ointment which contains a percentage of extrememly hot peppers but we did not want to go that route We are looking for support and advice from anyone willing, especially in Florida as we go through this journey together step by step and decide the best course of action. She saw a Doctor Carugno in Miami today who suggested pelvic floor exercises, oral medications and creams and surgery only as a last resort. She tries some of this on a limited basis years ago with no significant improvement. This sounded like the things Dr Christopher said would probably not work. Dr Carugno said the surgery only had a 50 percent success rate whereas Dr Christopher said it was more like 95 percent with intimacy practically pain free after treatment. As I recall, at least one person from the forum has had surgery with Dr. Trabin who she is seeing for the final opinion next week. We would really appreciate any support and guidance anyone can provide for us. Thank you!

Mitch

Wife with Vulvadynia scheduled for surgery Empty Try Everything First

Post  amyhp Thu Apr 13, 2017 7:39 pm

Hi, I want to encourage you and your wife to try everything before going for surgery. I tried everything and did not get better, but surgery made me worse. A lot of women get relief from surgery, but a lot of women do not as well. I am so thankful I exhausted every option before surgery because regretting the procedure is absolutely awful. I get that living in regret gets you nowhere, but when you feel the pain constantly those emotions are triggered. Is your wife in constant pain or is it just pain with sex?
