Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I'm sorry im rambling

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Diagnosed Recently

Tue Jan 08, 2019 3:55 pm by flissyg

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Getting broody Empty Getting broody

Post  Sebby (Admin) Sat Nov 05, 2016 2:24 pm

Hi all,

I have become very broody for a baby for the first time! I am 35! I guess dealing with pain and bouts of severe depression just put me off the whole thing but now much to my hubby's surprise I am clucking away!

I no longer have constant pain now, thank god but I don't know why it went? sometimes having this condition makes me feel like is all magic and curses rather than medicine, it is so confusing.

Anyway I have been working with dilators and pelvic floor release techniques and sometimes I can manage penetration.

I am getting there slowly but surely but I am probably more scared of giving birth! anyway we are actually going to try in the new year. This is the first time I would have actually tried and stopped using birth control (mostly birth control has been just not having sex! for the majority of my life) but I am on the mini pill which has helped so much with period pain and pms so I am also nervous coming off it.

Anyway just thought I would update you guys

take care

Fingers crossed that you conceive quickly Smile My husband and I are also TTC (I'm a similar age to you). I don't even think about giving birth as I figure there's no point worrying about that unless I manage to conceive and if I do get pregnant then I'll worry about labour and birth much nearer the time! One tip: if you haven't succeeded after six months then don't delay in asking the GP for fertility checks for both of you (or get them done privately if you can afford it). It's best to know ASAP if you might have additional challenges to overcome. Good luck!

Wow its great to know a fellow sufferer who is my age is also TTC!

I hope you too conceive quickly!

You have a great attitude to the whole giving birth thing, I have been almost phobic of it for years but the broodiness has taken over the fear in the last few months!

I am going to stop my pill after the current packet in 3 weeks. Its a progesterone only and I haven't had a period for the year I have been on it which has been wonderful! so I am not looking forward to the whole period thing again ugh!

A bit worried over flare ups and hormones and stuff but I guess I to had better deal with it when it happens.

Keep me updated! and yes I will certainly ask for tests after 6 months, I know they say a year usually but at 35 I think you can request earlier.

Good luck!!

Hi Sebby,

I've just seen your post. Sorry I'm so slow but don't get the chance to come onto this site often.

Congratulations on your decision! Being a parent is amazing, it really changes your life and you look at everything differently because of it. I think you deserve this hugely, having done so much for so many people on this forum.

You wrote 'sometimes I can manage penetration'. This makes me think conceiving that way could be painful for you and maybe difficult. Have you discussed this with your doctor? He/she should be able to refer you to the assisted conception clinic at your local hospital. They'll start out with the usual 'try conceiving naturally for x months then come back to us'. But if you have a lengthy set of medical records showing vulvodynia they should accept you can't realistically conceive that way and so put you on the programme for their help. If they try to put you off ask if they have a committee that can consider it and get your GP to write a report. We went down that route and got their agreement.

Good luck!

Mark
