Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Diagnosed Recently

Tue Jan 08, 2019 3:55 pm by flissyg

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

I truly felt that this day would never come--but I'm happy to report that I am for the most part pain free most days.

After about a year and a half of applying a compound cream with little to no help--I finally read about the benefit of medication.
I pretty much begged my doctor for a prescription and I was prescribed Lexipro.

I take one tablet once a day and I am ever so much better! I have also found that on the rare day I have a flair up---taking a dose of Alka Seltzer and lying down for about an hour helps.

I do hope you find relief as I totally understand the pain and frustration-

Jackie

thanks for posting! so interesting an SSRI helped you and not a tricyclic ! wow ! super!

I just wanted to tell you that since I've read you also had lower back pain and IC, it sounds like you have a very mild form of Central sensitization. I have the same issues, lower back pain, tailbone, TMJ plus IBS, but no IC (yet). My aches and pains move around a lot too!

I am starting to think some of us have CS and not vulvodynia, it just means the nervous system is sensitive and creates all the pain syndromes Smile

How interesting that you mentioned the CS-- I was thinking Fibomyalgia,- as the pain moves around.
The OB GYN I was seeing wanted to try physio and even pain management lessons but once the Lexapro started working I decided to take the easy way out.
I did try the physio one time and it triggered my lower back pain.
I have had bladder spasms  for many years and was diagnosed with IC years ago--now the Vulvodynia sometimes manifests with terrible urethral pain when I void and I found the Alka Seltzer helps tremendously....I researched and  found that there is a product called Alka Seltzer Gold that doesn't contain the aspirin----and I ordered it from Ebay--

I would love to stay in touch with you--my private email address is: jackie92646@gmail.com
If I can offer any suggestions or share ideas it would be my pleasure. Only someone who has experienced that pain, truly understands it--
Bless you-
Hugs-
Jackie

Hello!

I do mindfulness now, I have some apps on my phone and can just do it anywhere, anytime. What kind of pani do you have? I have buzzing, electric shocks, everything except burning. the buzzing nerves also move around a lot, I even get buzzing nerves in my knee or foot.
I'm really busy with a new job and stress, but you can always Pm me!

I take magnesium for the CS. I have a history of anxiety and depression which may have contributed to CS.

Finally relief! Empty Hi Mary Jane

My pain is what is known as generalized and the Dr. said that trying to avoid anything that would irritate me is what I have to do--
I wash my white cotton underwear in antibacterial soap--and then rinse in plain water after a regular wash---

The pain travels from inside to outside and varies in intensity when I have a  flare---but I haven't had the type of pain lately that knocks me off of my feet.
I too suffer from anxiety--and the Lexapro serves a duel function as it is an anti anxiety med.
Interestingly enough, my OB GYN was not the one to prescribe the Lexapro-- I called my GP and explained the problem--He prescribed it over the phone--I was thrilled when it started working. I feel as though I have my life back!
