Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I'm sorry im rambling

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Diagnosed Recently

Tue Jan 08, 2019 3:55 pm by flissyg

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Hi everyone

I am sitting here at the computer and the pain is quite bad burning and tingling. I have put a brave face on at work today trying to look like I am normal like everyone else. I think why me and then read everyone elses story on the forum and think at least there are people here who I can relate to and I am not on my own The pain started about two weeks ago after almost 3 year break so I am hoping that it goes soon and I will feel normal again. I forgot what the pain was like when I was pain free, but I know there are worse illnesses out there so for the moment I will grin and bear it!!

Hey Maryjane,

We have all been there...in utter, horrific pain and still maintaining appearances.

I just want to reach out and give you a hug! God bless you for your courage.

How is Elavil coming along? You said you went off the meds and have started up.

I am on 40 mg at the moment and I am wondering if I will need to be for the rest of my life...in order to lead a productive life and be able to function and take care of myself.

I get scared at times...worrying about my future with this condition. The doctor told me I have neuropathic pain in my vulva...does it just ever go away? Or is it something one has to manage to live with until one dies?

I wish there were doctors who could actually care enough to help us!!! Not just do studies and poke and prod us...but show empathy and provide us with a kernel of faith/hope for our lives and futures.

Why do we have to suffer so much ??? We lose our self esteem, sexuality, physical capability, mental well being in all this....and for what???? Why????

Im frustrated tonight, can you tell ?

I think more needs to be done about this! This is utterly un acceptable in my opinion, that we have so little support in the medical community and in society in general.

Take care ladies...you are in my thoughts.

I agree with you Noni and thanks for your post to my little rant yesterday. You say you have been told you have neuropathic pain in vulva. That's what I was told. Refused to believe that was the only problem. Have you tried PT? - I am so frustrated with the medical industry also, I don't think they care enough about us and because they can't 'see' the pain they think it's not that bad.

Maryjane, I work at a computer also and have bee keeping up appearances as best I can for the past 9 months . I told my boss. I have told my boss what the deal is ( i told him about 3 months into it), he is extremely understanding and is happy for me to go to physio appointments during the day as they cant be done outside of work hours. Perhaps approach your boss and explain the situation ( you don't have to go into detail) I was dreading it but so glad I did because my work was begining to get affected. Now he knows there is so much less pressure because he can understand why I am not performing at my best.

Thinking of you both x

Hey Aussie,

I have not yet attempted physio as I am worried it may just irritate me even more. I dont know what to do anymore...Im scared everything will cause me pain. I know this is not a healthy attitude!

Aussie, you have guts to have told your boss...I dont know if I am there yet...I get very anxious at the thought of clueing people into my condition...maybe in time.

Take care ladies,
Noni

Hi Mary Jane

My thoughts are with you as I too am sitting hear with terrible soreness and stinging due to the sanitary pad! I am going to brave tampons tomorrow as I cant stand this anymore.

I have bought myself a doughnut cushion to use at home and its great cos It takes the pressure off the vulvar. I got mine off amazon a foam one with a washable cover.

Im not yet brave enough to get one for work cos I just dunno what Id say to people! I have a soft cushion at work but its not a doughnut one.

ah, pads are the worst! even cotton ones cause me irritation. I use tampons with applicators and put like half a bottle of lube on them, they go in fine, It seems to hurt afterwards on my lighter days. Heavy days I can hardly feel the tampon.

Maryjane, Physical Therapy has done alot for me. I can now have sex without pain. As for sitting, jeans, pads, daily pain - unchanged. But it's worth a shot. Seriously think about telling your boss. This thing wont go away overnight at atleast making him/her aware takes some of the pressure off you.

The strange thing about having SI and back problems is you get used to sitting being very painful, I do minimal amounts of sitting because of this. You can get Occupational Therapists to assess your work area and there are sit/stand computer desks where you can raise it up and stand some of the time if that helps. Some people get on with doughnut cushions which often come with a cover so they're not obvious unless someone makes a point of feeling them. If you're sneaky you could get an inflatable neck cushion, one of those shaped like a U, and use that to keep your vulva off the seat too. The good thing about the inflatable one is it can be deflated and hidden in your bag if you wanted to in between use.
