Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I'm sorry im rambling

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Tue Jan 08, 2019 3:55 pm by flissyg

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Hey guys. Since I'm new to this support group I'm not sure if this has been done before, but I thought it would be interesting to discuss other health issues that all of us are having to see if we can identify some problems that a lot of us may share. Here's a list of mine (other than vulvodynia):

GI:
-I have a constant gnawing/burning sensation in my upper abdomen (started 3 years ago and has not subsided).

Menstrual:
-For the first 8 or so years I had very irregular periods (I got them every 30-50 days) and I had extreme cramps during the first day of my period. After going on the BC pill to control my cramps my system really got screwed up, and I pretty much no longer get periods at all at this point.

Muscular:
-Starting about 3 months ago I have had a constant inflammation/tightness in my upper back, shoulders, and neck. It is very difficult for me to sit for long periods of time.

Respiratory:
-No matter how hard I try (i.e. running for every single day for 8 months) I can never get in shape. I always get incredibly out of breath right when I begin to jog. I think this is some form of exercise-induced asthma.

Skin:
-I have somewhat sensitive skin. I had my nose pierced for a year and a half but it was always irritated and there was always a large bump next to it. I took the piercing out about 2 months ago but so far there is still a lot of swelling and redness.

Other:
-Oral allergy syndrome-- basically I am allergic to many RAW nuts, vegetables, and fruits. If these are processed in any way (like cooked, canned, etc.) I can eat them. I am also severely allergic to Brazil nuts.

ALSO: From a recent blood test I discovered that I have incredibly high cholesterol (high LDL levels too), high levels of vitamin b12, and low levels of neutrophils (which are a type of white blood cell I believe). My blood test also showed very mild liver stress and semi-low levels of iron stores (but not to the point where I'm anemic).

These are the MAIN problems that I have that have been bothering me, but I know I have more that I can't think of right now. Regardless of the other health problems I have, the vulvodynia is still BY FAR the most troubling. If I ever get that under control, I would definitely be happy living with my other problems. Thanks for the support guys!

Hi Seagirl, welcome to the forum. Other health problems is something I'm interested in too. I had irregular periods for the first 10 years or so but they've settled down a bit now. I have alot of muscular pain and problems, hypermobility syndrome so loose ligaments because I don't form collagen properly and fibromyalgia which the doctors think was induced by the hypermobility problems and pain. I had a really bad neck and shoulders at the beginning of my joint problems too, it was so bad I couldn't bear to wear a coat despite it being the middle of winter. I just couldn't stand it on my muscles because they hurt so much. Nowadays my upper back and lower back and pelvic joints are the worst joint pain areas.

I have asthma too, and I'm a habitual breath holder which means I shallow breath into the upper ribcage and don't expand the rest of it which contributes to tight muscles too. As for allergies, I have chronic urticaria (hives) which they have no idea what causes them and is controlled mostly by anti-histamines. I'm allergic to lentils of all things, my lips and eyes swell up if I eat them! Embarassed On the whole I'm not looking too healthy at all am I? But I agree the V is the problem that upsets and affects me the most.

Hi Seagirl.

My other health problems are as follows:

TMJ Dysfunction - I think I inherrited this from my mum she has it along wih lupus, astma, fibro symptoms but not confirmed, migraines, tinitus oh and she has epelepsy too. ( i know I am lucky in comparison hey)

Migraines - Again I reckon from mum, If i don't have aspartame, orange juce chocolate or coffee or go in fluro lights these do not bother me at all.

Periods - Have been irregular ever since I started them at 14 but I went on the pill 4 years ago and this has reduced pain and heavyness. I used to pass out and vomit. I am unsure if the pill has caused my v or not. Mum thinks the pill trigered her lupus.

Muscles - I have tight glutes, hips, lower back pain, shoulders - I have pretty bad posture too, I am trying, its just so hard to sit!

regular yeast and uti infections - all seem to have stopped since getting v. very unsual as I was getting either a uti or yeast infection every few months.

tail bone pain - started about 6 months ago

bladder pain - possible IC? urether pain clitoris pain. started about 3 months ago

burning hands and feet started about 2 months ago

and as of 9 months ago only the infecitons were a problem - I was a perfectly healthy 22 year old.

I forgot to say I have very sensitive skin too, it's something the vulvar dermatologist mentioned the first time she saw me. I'm also allergic to the sun, I have to cover up all summer or wear loads of sun block and glow like victorian ectoplasm!

Owww golly where to start?

I have issues with ovulation which started about 5 years ago. It's quite random but I have episodes that involve waking with incredible stomach cramps and needing the loo in the middle of the night. My temperature spikes and I've passed out a few times because of the pain. This used to last about 2-3 hours. Now ovulation is becoming an issue every month, it's a bit like PMT and my boobs are tender for weeks afterwards. I get so hot you could fry an egg on my stomach, this lasts for hours so I don't think it's the old hot flush.

I was diagnosed with coeliac disease in Aug 09 this is an auto immune response to gluten. I lost over 20 kgs in a few months through malnutrition because the intestines are too damaged to absorb food. I was then lucky enough to get 2 bartholins abscess because my immune system was compromised. I then immediately had one of those ovulation incidents grrrr then the V started after the surgery in Feb last year.

I have numerous allergies now ... medical tape, paint, drain cleaner.

And my sciatic nerve has kicked off because of my bad sitting posture.

Hmm I think that's all for now
