Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Diagnosed Recently

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

My pain used to be every day and now I just went a month without pain. (Though it's in full force this week.) It's seems like the pain is becoming more spread apart and I'm hoping I'm starting to get better. I'm hoping one day the pain won't ever come back. Has this ever happened to anyone on here?

Yep, my pain flares the week before, during, and after my period. I'm not 100% pain free outside of my period, but my sensitivity is greatly reduced. I know there are other women that have similar experiences (pain free weeks and then a flare). Can you provide more information on your pain?

What does your pain feel like (e.g. stabbing, acid burn, prickling, itching, etc.)?
Where is your pain located (e.g. inner labia, vaginal opening, internal, etc.)?
Are there any physical changes to your vulvar appearance (e.g. whitening, scarring, etc.)?
Is the pain worse at any particular time (e.g. only after sex, going to the bathroom, after showering, during your period, etc.)?
What conditions have been ruled out for you (e.g. yeast, bacterial vaginosis, etc.)?
Do you have excessive discharge, or discharge that makes your pain worse?
What treatments have you tried (e.g. antibiotics, yeast creams/pills, boric acid, etc.)?
Do you know what the onset of your pain was (e.g. bad infection, first time having sex, etc.)?

Has anyone on here had there vulvodynia just go away Empty Re: Has anyone on here had there vulvodynia just go away

Post  Mvp123 Fri May 20, 2016 7:33 pm

My pain is like a bad irritation, acid burn type of feel. I found the pain hard to explain. The pain is at the vaginal opening mostly though sometimes it feels like it spreads out further. (Always external) My vulvar gets red and inflamed. I can see the redness when I check myself. I went to the gyno once while it was bad and she said she could see some redness and inflammation. (She actually tested my urine and said she found small amounts of blood or something like that caused by the inflammation.) But besides when it hurts, there are no changes I can see. Before, the pain seems to get worse a day or two after sex (but not always.) I actually had sex a few times this month and was fine. Though I had sex Saturday and was in pain Monday. It also seems to get worse before and during my period. (But, again, not always.) Again, last time I got my period it didnt hurt. But, I actually think I may be getting my period soon which may be the may also be the cause of this flare up. My periods are irregular so I don't actually know if I am getting it. I'm not sure what exactly has been ruled out. I went to the same gyno for a while who would test for UTI, yeast and once took a culture but said she found nothing abnormal. I didn't have health insurance for a while and now that I do, I have a gyno appt in June. I've tried yeast infection medicine that did not help. I was on antibiotics for something else which actually did seems to help. Besides that I've tried to switch to detergents and that kind of stuff. I also tried to take a ph balancing medicine? Neither really helped. What I think has helped the most is I stopped wearing undies and wear dresses/skirts as muchas possible. My discharge seems to be more during pain and maybe a little greyish but it seems more like it's my body trying to clean out whatever is bothering it? That was just my assumption. Also, I have a weird side effect which people have said it seems it may be bacterial. Sometimes my pee is very cloudy and smells like amonia? But, my gyno never said anything about bacterial so IDK? I will mention it to my new gyno. Finally, I think the offset was birth control. I started the depo shot in Jan and my first flare up was in February.

Anyway, I hope you can give some insight. It is interesting you said your virtually fine until your period. I think I may be getting my period. (My period is irregular and so idk when it's really coming but I think it's coming.) Maybe, my situation is similar to yours?

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Very Happy

Hmm...Well a quick google of grayish discharge keeps bringing up bacterial vaginosis (BV), but doctors are more than happy to over diagnose this condition; so I can't imagine your doctor wouldn't have tested for it. Too many people think they have chronic BV, and for most, that's just not the case. Plus, it unfortunately leads to tons of unnecessary antibiotics that will just ruin your vaginal flora further.

Have you tested your pH to see if you have an issue with that? Depending on where you live, you can easily buy pH strips pretty cheaply to monitor this yourself. I'm in the U.S., but I buy "EcoCare Comfort Vaginal pH-Test Cotton Swabs" from amazon.co.uk because I'm far too lazy to deal with regular test strips. Not that having a higher pH (above 4.5) is a guarantee of an infection because a lot of things can impact the results (e.g. your period, semen, etc.), but if you are consistently over 4.5, then you know there is probably something going on (and that doesn't always mean BV either!). What pH balancing products have you used and for how long?

Have you been tested for STDS (chlamydia, gonorrhea, HPV, trichomoniasis, etc.)? If you are embarrassed about this, which you shouldn't be, there are many private and confidential online STD testing companies that you could use. The only online lab I've had experience with is mylabbox.com. The test was easy and the results came back quickly. I would have been thrilled if my symptoms were caused by a curable/treatable STD, but I wasn't that lucky...lol!

A lot of doctors in the U.S. now have online systems that allow you to login and see a high level overview of the tests you've had. I would check online to see if your doctor's office does that because I think your first step needs to be finding out what you've been tested for already so you know where to start.

Let me know how things are going!
