Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams
Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21
Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?
Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder
Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie. I live in the UK.
I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia. I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.
I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

Dear All,
I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.
I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

MonaLisa Touch

Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,
I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!
So this is my story:-
I’m 36, and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”. The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help
Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124
Hi everyone,
About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Surgery for Vulvodynia
I'm 21 and for the past year I have suffered from SEVERE pain during sex. My gynocologist had me try estrogen creams and anesthetics to try to fix the area. I finally saw a specialist and he was the one who diagnosed me with vulvodynia in July and put me on an anti-depressant. While the medicine postponed the length of time before I experienced pain during sex, it was still just as bad when it did come. The medicine also increased my heart rate to a dangerous rate. I had to be taken off of it and my symptoms have come back just as strong. My doctor said the best approach is to get surgery. He says that the part of my non-intact hymen is sensitive and it needs to be surgically removed. I feel so alone and I just want to enjoy sex again. Any advice? Has anyone had the surgery and has it helped? I haven't had a surgery like this before.

Re: Surgery for Vulvodynia
Hi Melonhead, I'm sorry to hear your condition is so severe. I have no idea about surgery, most people on here seem to be focusing on physiotherapy, there's a section for it here. As far as info on surgery there's a topic on it here and Sebby has made two very informative posts on the topic also (1, 2). Vulval pain conditions seem to vary a lot from person to person, so I couldn't possibly say whether surgery is right for you, but maybe it would be a good idea to consult with another doctor before going down that route? As far as I can tell most doctors don't really know what causes vulvodynia and other vulval pain conditions, and for this reason I'd be hesitant to undergo surgery for it myself, because obviously surgery's irreversible and if it makes things worse or doesn't help at all that would be awful.

Vestibulectomy
Hy!
Surgery -Vestibulectomoy- is a good option treamtent if you suffer for primary vestibulodynia. So first question is wether you already had intercourse-penetration without pain? If yes and the pain just came after a long period of "normal" sexual life" then I would try other treatment option. I am a bit puzzled by the "non-intact hymen"... Are you sure your MD is a good specialist of Vulvodynia?
Did you check the pill hypothesis; more and more young lady are suffering Vestibulodynia because of new OCs generation (type Jazz). In these cases stopping OC's and applying topical estrogens and androgens cream is a efficacious solution.
SO
1) do you suffer pain only on pressure/penetration at the entrance of the vagina (the so called vestibule) and even more very precisely on very specific area 9 and 11 hours arround the Vagina? If yes this is probably a Provocked Vestibulodynia
2) Is it a Primary or secondary Vestibulodynia? If it is primary look for a wel trained OBGYN who will do a vestibulectomy (surgery). Please look for a trained one...
3) If not, you have a secondary PVD... Think about the OC's issues (stop OCs) and try Neogyn topically first as is it a efficacious non drug approach.
4) Go to a good Physiotherapist who can help you to relex your pelvic muscles are they may be super contracted do to the Vulvodynia and even sometime this is causing the vulvodynia... Are you doing a lot of exercize?
