Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams
Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21
Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?
Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder
Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie. I live in the UK.
I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia. I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.
I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

Dear All,
I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.
I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

MonaLisa Touch

Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,
I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!
So this is my story:-
I’m 36, and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”. The following morning I woke up …

Hi everyone,
About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. Anybody else get a feeling like electricity buzzing around the affected area
Hi everyone
Many thanks for your replies to my previous message posted on behalf of my mother, it has been most helpful and I really appreciate the time you take to offer help and advice.
I have another question I wanted to ask for her, and that is her explanation of the feeling is that she feels like electricity is buzzing around constantly, like a pulsating, buzzing feeling, she even mentions feeling like her whole body is swaying, almost like she is on a boat. Does anyone else have this sensation (it is painful as well as buzzing), and she also feels as though there is a boil or something that needs to be lanced to stop the pressure, especially when sitting down, and yet on inspection through the various doctors, gynaecologists, etc there is nothing visible there.
I haven't seen this electricity feeling mentioned on the forum, so just wanted to check if anyone else has a similar feeling, to rule out the fact that maybe she has been misdiagnosed all along and that is why she is having very little success with any of the treatments.
Many thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing from you.

Re: Anybody else get a feeling like electricity buzzing around the affected area
Hi Beryl,
So sorry to hear your mother is suffering with vulvodynia. I spotted this post and thought I would respond as I have had the electricity thing. Normally my pain is of the burning / stinging type, but when it was at the worst of the worst I had the electricity type feeling. It was the weirdest and most horrible sensation and I haven't had it since but it's definitely possible with v. I suppose it is the nerves there going crazy.
In case it helps, I am on lyrica (pregabalin) which helps a lot to supress the pain. It doesn't eliminate it but makes life more bearable. I also use instillagel on the area which is a topical aneasthetic, I put this on at night to help keep the pain signals dampened down. For short term relief your Mum could also try vagisil which you can buy over the counter, it's a cream with anaesthetic in.
Also, if sitting is painful for your Mum I can recommend these cushions:
http://putnams.co.uk/sitting/bonyparts-sero-pressure-cushion
I have two, one for the office and one for the car and they help a lot with the pain of sitting.
All the best to you & your Mum,
Liz

Re: Anybody else get a feeling like electricity buzzing around the affected area
Thanks so much Liz for your response, it helps me to think she has had the right diagnosis and that we are on the right track. She has had a visit to the pain clinic today so I passed on the details about the pregabalin and the pressure cushion - that particularly seems like a sensible way forward as the sitting is the hardest part and at 70, it's not easy to stay standing and busy all day long.
really appreciate you taking the time to reply and I wish you every success with your treatment and a pain free future.
Take care
Julie

bless your mom!!
I know exactly how she feels I can be sitting or standing in one spot for a little while an as soon as I move it feels like a taser is electrifying me an if I try to move the pain will just shoot up my body an about 50% of the time when that happens the pain takes me so off guard that my body will start to rock back an forth. I call it a spasm when it happens because I have to be so still a couple of minutes after it happens just so it will go away! I hope she get something to help with it because for me it's unbearable!!!!!

Re: Anybody else get a feeling like electricity buzzing around the affected area
The buzzing is almost certainly due to some disturbance in the nerves in this area. I have also experienced this over the years
and recently I had several bouts which were like electric shocks. Your mother could have a problem with the Bartholin gland which might explain the swelling she feels. Another cause of this type of sensation is viral infection along a nerve channel such as Herpes.
A vast proportion of the populations carry this virus often with no symptoms...however a lowered immunity for a brief period can result in symptoms of this kind. I hope your Mum is reading this so that she knows she is in very good company. All the best to you x
