Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I'm sorry im rambling

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Diagnosed Recently

Tue Jan 08, 2019 3:55 pm by flissyg

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Hello, I have just found this site and I'm so relieved to hear from people who understand what I've been going through! This all sounds so familiar. I too suffer from UTIs but I also contracted ecoli a couple of years ago so was put on a long course of antibiotics followed by an even longer course of thrush treatment. That's when the vulva pain started, it was at first most apparent when attempting to have sex. I knew the thrush had gone but my GP still insisted it was that and I was given thrush treatment for 6 weeks and the symptoms only worsened. I have also always suffered from back pain on and off and this seemed to get a lot worse. About 6 months ago I ended up going to a GU clinic because I wanted a second opinion and the specialist there has been really great, she told me about vulvodynia and this site. I was about to start taking medication for it but felt my symptoms change! I have a UTI that spread to my kidney which I had to have antibiotics for! Everything has got a lot worse and I can't seem to find anyway to feel comfortable! It seems to be affecting my stomach, thighs and especially my back. Because the drop in doctor who tested for the kidney infection told me to go to the GP if the pain was still there after the course of antibiotics and I haven't been able to see the specialised, I went to a GP to hopefully get some more answers or be referred to a chiropractor. However she didn't seem to listen to me at all, hadn't heard of vulvodynia and I walked out of there with another perscription for 'hardcore antibiotics' as she put it and a prescription for thrush treatment!! Exactly the things that seem to have stated all of this in the first place. I now am so confused as to whether my pain is related to the UTI/ kidney infection or the vulvodynia? I am scared to take the antibiotics but also scared not to! Any advice would be really really appreciated! Does anyone else find back pain to be the predominant pain? I feel like I'm going a bit mad! Sad Thank you all for listening to my rant!

Just googled sacrum Smile YES it's that whole area that hurts! Have you also been diagosed with vulvodynia? It seems for me the vulva pain is not as bad as the other pains. I'm so sick of going round in circles, its such a frustrating thing to have. Have been slowly pacing my flat for the last few days, even lying down (which use to make it better) hasn't been helping! Reading things on here has made me realise I'm not completely crazy but the pain is so tiring, it's such an endurance test!

Recently diagnosed but having to take antibiotics! Empty Sacrum pain

Post  Rainy Day Fri Aug 31, 2012 1:21 pm

The only thing that helps my sacrum pain is placing ice on it for about 5-10 min every hour. Also, I take several ibuprofen a day. That seems to slow it down. But, I can't keep it gone. I had an xray which showed a lot of inflamation around my sacro iliac joint. So, I wnet to physio. Only been to 2 sessions though. yes, my leg pain and sacrum pain are far worse than vagina. I am about to pull my hair out. Hubby doesn't 'get' it. Watching my 2 yr old today and it's not easy since life is so painful. Was taking gabapentin but it was making me so sick, so started decreasing dosage.

Recently diagnosed but having to take antibiotics! Empty Sacrum pain much worse when lying down for me...

Surprised it didn't bother you when lying down. Of course, sitting is impossible too though.

I haven't tried ice yet! I had the vulva pain first that started about a year ago and lying helped for that but since the last lot of antibiotics lying doesn't help at all! Does the pain in your back feel similar to the pain of the kidney infection? I can't work out what's hurting! Is your pain better or worse with your periods? Mine started off feeling better but now it seems worse!? It must be so hard with a 2 year old, I thought it was hard with my puppy (although now I'm a little scared I'll only ever have dogs and no babies)! It's frustrating that some people don't seem to understand...make your husband read some of the posts on here, then he might get it! My boyfriend is really great but he's had to put up with alot! Yes sitting is the worst.

Recently diagnosed but having to take antibiotics! Empty Kidney infection

Post  Rainy Day Fri Aug 31, 2012 1:51 pm

I can't remember if I had back pain with the kidney infection. I just remembber it being so painful in the uterus area...and peeing pure blood and barfing. I sometimes wonder if it never went away too. It's terribly hard with a 2 yr old. I love him to pieces, but its so hard to play with him being in pain. I am really hoping the physio can help sort out some of my problems. Does it hurt to lie on your back (where your sacrum is)? If so, I am guessing its your sacrum. I am guessing your entire pelvic floor is messed up like mine then.

Recently diagnosed but having to take antibiotics! Empty messed up pelvic floor

Post  Abi2 Fri Aug 31, 2012 5:57 pm

Keep hearing that physio is really helpful so hopefully it'll do the trick for you! My mum had a slipped disk while I was young so could never carry me but I still knew she loved me, I'm sure your child will just grow into a more understanding adult because of this. I think you're probably right about the pelvic floor, seeing the specialist again next week so will ask about physio too. Thank you for sharing what's happened to you with me. Wishing you a less painful day tomorrow!
