Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Diagnosed Recently

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Hi,
I"m 20 and I first started having pain with sex when I was 19, about 10 months ago. It wasn't my first time, although it was a new boyfriend and he was maybe a little larger than my previous 2 boyfriends. Looking back, I think the problem was not new, as I had never used a tampon as i could always feel it, and having sex more than once a night was a no-go due to no lubrication = ouchies. To be honest, even sex that lasted too long made me rub a little raw. funnily enough, getting a guy to finish quickly is never an issue. So I went to see my GP who sent me, after several standard tests, to a specialist who diagnosed me and sent me to the physiotherapist. This took time, and if I didn't have health insurance would've been way more expensive than I could afford. But the physio lady is so nice, and so helpful and we pinpointed what the problem may be. I spent 6 weeks on an excavation in Italy where I was squatting in the dirt for 10 hours a day, drinking litres of water and avoiding going to the horribly smelly and hot portaloos - I appear to have overtrained my pelvic muscles and when the sex hurt I fell into a cycle of pain and tension. I also have guttate psoriasis which may have contributed a little. I understand this, but its so hard to switch all that apprehension off, even when its just me and tiny tampon (much cheaper than a dilator). By relationship with that initial boyfriend eventually ended (he was an asshole) and I'm seeing a much more understanding guy who seems ok with the no-sex aspect - although we do a fair number of other things. I'm not uncomfortable with intimacy and I don't have a problem with arousal anymore and on a good day he can use his hands. I know that some women are in far worse situations and I know I've come a long way from where I was, but I'm not satisfied with this result, I like sex and I want to be able to have when I want without having to worry about it not working out. Yet, at the same time, with my full-time post-graduate study and all the crazy stress in my life, the motivation to actually do my exercises every night is lacking. I just want to sleep, or read my book. Not to mention, that trying to use a dilator when you are not in the mood just makes it harder and I get discouraged. I know its silly to expect things to just get better without doing much about it, but the good days and the bad days don't seem to have any rythme or reason. In fact, doing my exercises seems to make it harder to do the same thing later that day (or the next) with my man, especially if it didn't go too well, so I do my exercises even less.
Does anyone have any advice? How did you keep up the work for so long and stay positive?
Also, is there a support group in Auckland, New Zealand? It would be nice to talk with people in person, the internet always seems so far away and impersonal.

Struggling with motivation Empty Re struggling with motivation

Hi,
Just read your message, think it is very normal for you to feel they way u are feeling, I have physio exercises and should be using my dilators every other night and doing perinal massage, which to be honest has helped I have made my way through the dialators and have made it up to the scary largest one. They are great for stretching and trying to get me to relax, however it's very different to sex as there is no movement. I go through periods of extreme motivation and I will do it all the time but then I end up with urine infection and I'm make to where I started. It helped me to use the dilators in the bath as this will help you to relax, use an oil based lube check out this lube it's called yes, it doesn't have any nasty chemicals. Hope this helps

Struggling with motivation Empty Interesting

Hello,
I am from the US and am curious about the dilators you are talking about. I would be interested in exercises and trying anything down there to help the pain. Please explain. Thanks!
