Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Hi Everyone, I have recently been diagnosed with Vulvondynia and as I'm sure you all know it's pretty difficult to deal with. I can imagine that it's an awful thing to have at any age but I just didn't expect to be dealing something like this at 18. I have a loving, caring, understanding boyfriend who has never been overly concerned about sex and therefore his personality and sex drive is something that has made this easier. However, I personally feel frustrated, useless, unattractive and also like there's just simply something wrong with me in every way. This problem as really taken a toll on my confidence. I am also heading off to university (with my boyfriend) in 6 days and so I just want it to permanetly go away and be forgotten about, but I have realised that this is not the way it works.

Will I always have to deal with some form of this for the rest of my life?
I have read so many success stories on here and they make me feel slightly more positive about things and also happy for everyone who have experienced positive results because I can imagine what the relief would feel like. However, it seems to me like this problem never really goes away and that women who have it have to deal with it forever.

I have been suffering from this for a year and two months now and it occured when I was coming home from a summer holiday with my boyfriend and family. I had all the syptoms of thrush but the doctors misdiagnosed me for months and gradually the feeling began to change, I suppose this was when the vulvondynia began to set it. My boyfriend found a special clinic for me to go to as my doctors (a eventual total of about 6) had started telling me it could be in my mind and the lady at this clinic immediately told me that it was vulvondynia. I am currently on a course of anti-depressents but I have been suffering with severe tiredness and I also have not noticed any change apart from the occasional numbness of my tongue when I can't swallow the tablet properly Razz

The pain occurs mainly during sex, it is around the outside and feels like someone is scraping their fingernails across an open wound, I am lucky that it doesn't effect me during day to day life things very often and I really feel for those who are dealing with that. It is still difficult to feel positive though, all i want is a happy, simple relationship with my boyfriend with no pain during something that surely is a given right. Sorry, ranting. It's just good to let it out, I can talk to my family and friends and boyfriend about it but I don't feel that they can really connect with what I'm going through.

I am considering surgery as a serious option to try and heal this. Has anyone has surgery and experienced positive results?
Or does anyone just have general advice on coping with this? Most people on here seem so positive about everything, i'd really love to be able to be like that about this.
Thank you so much for reading,
Amy x

What have you tried so far? Personally I've had amazing success with acupuncture and some success with diet. I would not consider surgery unless I had exhausted absolutely every other option, and possibly not even then. I've had other surgeries..knee surgery and c-section, and surgery is just such a drastic measure. hard to bounce back from, and I can't imagine the pain during recovery.

You don't always have to suffer! Keep trying until you find something that works for you. Keep trying and fighting to get your life back. This is my second bout with V..first one was over 6 yrs ago and that lasted a year and a half. Then I was pain free for 5 yrs. Now it's back, for the past few weeks, but this time I really had a plan of attack and it is working pretty well. I'm not 100% better, but I was even able to have sex last night without feeling much pain at all. So, there is hope. I promise, there is hope.

Many people have success with physio or biofeedback. Some people have found the cause for their V..maybe ureaplasma or lichen sclerosis. For some it's persistent yeast. For me, I don't know what it is but I do know acupuncture takes it away. I truly hope you can get yourself healed. I recommend eating as healthy as possible, trying to de-stress and relax, and trying to focus on the positive. You can do this. You can get better! Hang in there.
