Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Diagnosed Recently

Tue Jan 08, 2019 3:55 pm by flissyg

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Hi new here and I'm not sure if I have this or not but hopefully will be finding out soon and any opinions would be helpful x
It all started two years ago I had one of the worst bladder infections I have ever experienced that lasted for a month of feeling like I really needed to pee! After two courses of antibiotics this finally subsided and then came the ITCH and stinging and burning Mad So I went to a clinic got told i had thrush, tried cream nothing happened, went to my doctors was told I had thrush and some swabs taken came back negative and I was left alone and every time I went to see my doctor I was told it was all in my head. No matter how many times I went all i got was thrush treatment even though it came back negative! I was even in tears with the doctor begging him to help to no avail.
So after a while the cuts started appearing and I couldn't even go to the toilet it hurt that much. Went to the clinic again and guess what I was told? THRUSH! So months went by and i was in pain and itching and burning and sore almost constantly. No
Anyway I got a new partner and went to the clinic to be tested at this point I had one of my little cuts which was apparently thrush so while there she swabbed it. Few weeks later I got a letter saying i had herpes type 2. pale (This was 4 months ago) It was scary but I thought hey maybe this was the cause of all my problems and I can finally get it sorted and move on!! So I went to the clinic were they very reluctantly gave me medication. Honestly they were just going to leave me! I had to beg them for medication! They gave me four months worth and said the itching burning and sores would stop. So I'm near the end of my meds now and the only thing that has changed is that I no longer get sores. Which is good I suppose but still I sting daily and burning.
I have changed doctors now two years later and she actually listened to me and gave me some medication (tricyclic antidepressants) to try and said to come back in a months time and I can see a gynecologist.
I hope I am getting to the bottom of this! I don't get dressed most days as wearing anything that goes in-between my legs sets the pain off badly I already suffered from severe depression which has become 100x worse and I have even felt suicidal. I want constant pain gone! I have only had very few days pain free in two years and I am only 21 and just want to live my life! Even daily activities are hard walking can trigger it such as walking or moving in a certain way. Sometimes I just sit here and the pangs of pain come. Some days I am scared to move. It is always in the same place near the opening on the outter labia sometimes but very rarely can be on the inner labia. Anyway hopefuly i should have my diagnosis soon. About to ring for an appointment now wish me luck girls I need some help! Does this sound like vulvodynia to you?
Also on a side note I notice much more irritation when I have pubic hair and tend to keep it hair free through waxing (shaving is not an option was done once and the pain and irritation is caused was out of this world!) anyone else have this?

First I'm no expert.
Second god that sounds so similar to my story.
I was diagnosed with genital warts and had 'them' (the lesions) burnt off then got told I didn't have it at all. Ask your GP to do a blood test to double check you actually have this problem. (if you do, it could just be a coincidence too)

my personal experience is after having pretty much the symptoms you described and more for 5 and a half years a dermatologist who is an expert in this field in australia told me this...

the last few vertebra in your spine control all the nerve endings in your pelvis region. If you have bad posture (from slouching at your desk or caused by big boobs) and/or are overweight the vertebra at the bottom of your spine can go out of alignment and/or become compressed. This causes the nerve endings to send out 'pain' messages. This is called pain referral. A lot like when someone is told the RSI in their wrist is caused by their bad back/posture when they sit!!

The cure is to loose weight (A MUST if you are big) see a physio (with a specialization in pilates) to get your posture fixed and do physio guided pilates.

I only JUST found this out but I'm very hopeful it will work and start treatment next week! My doctor told me she has helped a lot of women with this problem successfully and she said I will be pain free within a year!

There are a lot of causes of vulvadynia and this may not be your answer but I am telling everyone I find with similar symptoms to mine as in my 5 years of research I NEVER heard this treatment before! If you want to stay in touch to see how I go let me know! Smile and good luck!
