Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I'm sorry im rambling

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Inner muscle pain? Empty Inner muscle pain?

Post  penfebruary Sun Aug 19, 2012 10:22 pm

Hey guys, hope everyone is doing ok, I've just got 2 general questions.
My pain has been between 1 and 5 for the past couple of months so I've been plodding along ok - prior to that I had a minor scare that turned out to be another UTI that I managed to get rid of and the pain went back down to its usual average or just below intermittently (I'm on 35mg AMI atm) so I've been ok with that and getting on with my life. Aaanyway, I've got 2 slightly different questions

1) After the UTI I got a yeast infection - I think it happened because I asked for a week long dose of medication for the UTI as this all started when I had a vicious UTI that didn't budge until I got some stronger dosage. Since then I've been pretty much back to normal but very aware of my discharge levels which I feel are a little high. Is it possible that I've got a borderline yeast infection and this is causing some of the standard burning? If so, should I go to the doctors and demand a swab or try anything else? (I asked if I should do a swab when I went for the yeast medication prescription, given the state of my hoo-haa, but my doctor said there was no need unless the prescription didn't help. Sigh)

2) I've been seeing a womans physio for a while too, mainly just cuz she's one of the only doctors I've met that can be bothered with me. Despite not knowing much about Vulvodynia she has helpfully located a sore ring of muscles about a fingernail length in to my vagina - it's only on the left hand side and she described it as a 'tense semi circle'. It is sore to touch - not screaming sore, but sore enough to be noticeable for at least an hour or so after touch. She has given me some dilators and told me to use them as frequently as possible in order to try and stretch out the muscle as she says it is in spasm. However, my pelvic floor doesn't seem to be unstable; I did the clenching test with the sensor inserted and my muscles were pretty good with responding to clenching and relaxing - there was a little bit of instability probably due to the chronic pain but nothing particularly unusual.
Anyway I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience, what or why this bit is in spasm and if there are any other suggestions besides dilators as to what I could try to make this go down? This, my labia minora and the very centre spot of my labia are what get sore randomly all the time.

Thanks and best wishes to you all.

(ps I decided to actually add a photo of myself to my avatar, 'cause screw it, I'm tired of feeling ugly and weird just cause my body isn't perfect I love you )

Inner muscle pain? Empty Inner muscle pain

Post  Loulou Sun Aug 26, 2012 1:04 pm

Hi Penfebruary

In answer to your questions, I also have found some inner muscle pain when I have a flare up. Mine is slightly higher in my vagina, maybe an inch or two, but also on the left side only. It feels like the muscle surrounding my vagina has a taut band on the left which is slightly sore/tender (less intense now since my pain levels have come down). I just press on the taut/tender bit with my finger for about 20 seconds (i don't rub or anything), I do that 2 or 3 times. It usually helps relax the muscle and ease the pain or discomfort.

You might also find it useful to massage your glutes with a tennis ball too. I usually find if i've got a tender bit inside my vagina then my glute muscles are also usually tight (don't know if its just a coincidence) - I think its the piriformis that gets tight and sore and this can definitely cause vulval pain. You'll know if any of your glute muscles are tight cos rolling on the tennis ball will hurt! I usually do it on the floor with the ball under my bum cheek and just roll around until you hit a sore spot and then concentrate on that, letting the weight of your body rest or roll on the ball. If you find it hard to do it on the floor you can also lean against a wall with the tennis ball between your bum and the wall. I try and do this fairly regularly as trigger points in my glutes are not easy to get rid of. Careful not to overdo tho - i've given myself bruises before by being too enthusiastic!

I also find I sometimes get tender bit between my inner thighs - if you run your hands up your inner thighs till they touch your groin, that bit. I just massage that (press and roll the skin) with my fingers for a few minutes on the tender bits, also massaging out to my sit bones as it can feel tender around there also.

Finally (sorry, long post) don't let those stoopid doctors stop you having a swab test if you want to be sure about whether you have thrush or not. Insist on one or, if you're in the UK, you can make an appt at a GUM clinic (genitourinary clinic) without a referral, some are just walk in, and they'll do a test for you.

Hope this helps.
x

Loulou
