Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Hello ladies ! Well, an acquaintance of mine oriented me to this site, and I'm very glad I found it.
I am questioning myself as far as if I may have vulvodynia, and maybe you guys can help me. I know you're not doctors, and therefore can'T give me a diagnosis but you might be able to help regardless.

A few weeks ago, I started having burning sensations after sex. I thought at first it was yeast, so I bought the oral one dose tablet, and called it a day. The problem is, when I had sex again, OMG, it burned so much during sex and after, it was even worse. It burns in the whole vulva, it is swollen, and it burns all the way to inside the vagina. No problem having sex though it gets very uncomfortable. After, when I pee, it's like someone is pouring acid out of me. It is excruciating. I still had some discharges, so I decided to buy the local cream treatment, as I thought it still may be yeast. The burning calmed down, and I thought it was all good. So this morning, I had sex again. And the crazy pain came back. Now, I no longer have discharges, but my whole vulva is so red and sore and swollen and I'm burning inside and when I pee. It didn't hurt THAT much during sex but definitely was way uncomfortable and wanted him to finish. I saw 2 doctors, and none of them were able to help me.

I would like to have you ladies's input.

Thanks in advance !

Hi there,

Welcome to the forum! There are lots of lovely ladies on here to offer advice, wish it was more active though.

When you treated yourself for thrush did the symptoms completely go away until the next time you had sex? Or did you still experience symptoms?

Also, what did your discharge look like?Thick, watery, white, clear, yellow, sticky?

Hi ! Sorry for the delay ! No, when I got treated for thrush, the symptoms didn't go away. I no longer have discharges, just pain with intercourse. They were more like residues than discharges, but I remember having that while having thrush in the past. They were white and sometimes greyish. I also have Lichen Sclerosis, which can provoke symptoms, but never inside the vagina. So, sexwise, what happens in more details is...at the beginning it's ok, but after a while, it starts burning inside, and when he finishes, it burns outside too, and hurts to pee -__-. I also noticed some incomfort with tampons, and a slight burning sensation, even when I don't have sex for a week or 2. I've had plenty of UTI's and thrush infections, and it is nothing like that. I had sex yesterday after 3 weeks of abstinence yesterday, and the same thing happened. It was enjoyable at first, and then started to get uncomfortable. The pain is worse after though. It's like all of my vagina swells and I can't pee right after. Then, it gets progressively better until say 24 hours later, and almost no pain left... Saw a obgyn and she treated me for thrush AGAIN. I mean... Ugh. Can anyone provide advice ? Thanks in advance Smile

I'm not a doctor, but urethral inflammation could be a possibility given the difficulty in urinating. Do you think maybe what you're perceiving as vaginal pain could be urethral? Everything is close together down there. I know I sometimes have difficulty pinpointing the source of my pain.

You mean a UTI ? I've had plenty and none provoked that kind of pain. Pain is inside the vagina and also all over the vulva; it becomes swollen, very red and raw after sex. No UTI has ever given me those symptoms. I wish that's what it was though. I wish it's something else that's curable... :/

You're right, a UTI would not likely cause swelling and redness to the vulva. I just mentioned it as my physio/PT said she thought I had urethral inflammation after an examination, but I had no infection there at the time. So it is possible to have inflammation without an active infection. Sorry I can't be more help.
