Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams
Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21
Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?
Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder
Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie. I live in the UK.
I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia. I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.
I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

Dear All,
I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.
I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,
I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!
So this is my story:-
I’m 36, and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”. The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Hi everyone,
About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Burning actually not so bad on time of the month ?
Strangely, the raw burning feeling is actually often reduced while I'm on my period. My mum suggested that maybe it's because blood is more alkaline. But my pH is normal. It sounds gross but i think its the 'wetness' soothing and moisturising the area. I also am in less pain in the bath/pool/sea. I am also in less pain during ovulation. Any ideas?!

Re: Burning actually not so bad on time of the month ?
Tinkerbelle, have you assessed vaginal pH specifically, or blood pH, or what? This suggests one of two possible things: cyclic vulvodynia, which tends to a be a yeast issue; or cytolytic vaginosis, which is a bacterial issue. Hormones are responsible for cyclic vulvodynia, and it can be highly responsive to long-term antifungal therapy, or modulating the hormonal shifts that are often responsible for cyclic yeast proliferation. Cytolytic vaginosis can be somewhat tricky to manage, since it's an overgrowth of bacteria that are essential to healthy vaginal flora (just in smaller numbers!). However, it can be treated using sitz baths, suppositories, and failing that, antibiotics. The reason cytolytic vaginosis gets better with menstruation, like your mom suggested, is the relative alkalinity of menses compared to standard conditions.
This is actually an excellent sign, believe it or not! It suggests a vulvodynia cause that might be easier to tackle. Mine is getting so much better, and like you, mine was cyclic in its nature.

If it is cyclical due to hormones....is there a natural way to regulate hormones? I notice symptoms increase the week after my period.

Leslieg- Try whole foods, but I have endo, trust me if there were a natural effective way to control hormones, I'd know about it. Fact is, there isn't. And remember, people will claim anything to make money, so be careful. You could try doing continuous birth control and you won't have a period, which may help eliminate pain. But that isn't natural, but once your body adjusts you should be OK.
Tinkerbelle, if what Alessandria says is correct, go to your doc and have labs run if you have yeast or bacteria the week of your period, ask if you can be treated long-term. I was on yeast meds for 6 months when it finally went away.

Alessandria, what an informative response! You seem to be very knowledgeable. I had to ask my mum and research on what some of the descriptions like cyclic and cytolytic actually meant lol. I really hope this is good news! It's interesting because sometimes thrush treatments have temporarily cured the vulvodynia, and you mentioned that it can be a yeast issue. Would you recommend explaining this to gp?

for me it's the opposite...I always feel more raw and sore right before and towards the beginning of my period.

Yeah I've heard a lot of women say that theirs is the opposite which is why I thought it was interesting that mine was different. Both could be hormone related. Such a puzzle I get that raw feeling too it's so unpleasant isn't it
