Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Well, the dryness in the vaginal area I have had for a long time. I did avoid wearing tight clothes, always wore cotton underwear and basically could love with this.

But then, I had a reaction to some laundry detergent. Not realizing my husband changed the one we were using, he bought a brand called Purex and he ended up with an inflammation on his rear end that took about a month or so to clear up. At the time, I did not correlate the burning sensation I was having to his outbreak. But afterward, we did correlate that both started at the same time he switched detergents. His outbreak has cleared but unfortunately my reaction is still ongoing.

First I thought it was a yeast infection and treated it but the itchiness and burning did not go away. Then I went to the doctor and had a urine culture done that showed the presence of a bacterial infection - and was given antibiotics for that. After taking the antibiotics, I still felt somewhat itchy. My doctor recommended using a hormonal cream - which I did not want to do - having not done well in the past with any hormonal supplements. So she suggested trying Replens for the dryness. Well, that seemed to make this even worse. So again, I called the doctor and asked to have another urine culture to see if I had urinary tract infection or kidney infection or maybe a yeast infection from the antibiotics. But again, everything was normal.

So now I am not sure really what to do. If I use Vagisil, it does taking the itching away. But I am not sure how frequently you can use that cream. What have others done?

Hi catarific,

There are a few things you could try. One thing that my doctor recommended for me was using crisco down there. I know it sounds weird, but she told me to put it in the fridge to keep it cool and put it down there to soothe me and give me some lubrication. I never tried it, but her other patients did and it helped them. I usually just put some lube down there to keep me moisturized. Another thing I saw a women on this site post was coconut oil. I've only used coconut oil in my hair, but It's supposed to be good for you're entire body. It might be worth trying out as long as you aren't allergic or something. Before trying anything though, please consult your doctor!

Vulvodynia - How it Started for Me Empty Re: Vulvodynia - How it Started for Me

Hi Catarific
I use organic coconut oil in a jar, which i bought from Tescos. It is completely pure and i does help with the itcing and is very soothing. I also use Aveeno oatmeal bath and shower oil every day in the shower, which cleanses and moisturises down below and it really helps too soothe the vaginal area, especially if having a flare up, which i have most days now. I find that if you use the coconut oil and lidocaine 5% ointment together, it takes the initial burning effect away, when first applying the lidocaine to your vulva. The coconut oil is very runny once you apply it, as dont put it in the fridge as will go too hard! Keep in a cupboard. Also i buy cotton sanitary pads once applying the coconut oil, so that it doesn't stain your knickers. Also lidocaine 5% ointment applied to a cotton wool ball and put inside the vagina in bed at night, really soothes the area. It did help with the pain of sex at first, but doesnt help me in that area now unfortunately. Hope some of these things help you and you find some sort of relief. X
