Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Or do they just treat the symptoms not the cause? I have heard that some medication does kind of rewire the nerves in a way not sure if that's true. .I don't really understand the whole anatomy and physiology side of things too well

The point of the nerve meds are to try and rewire your nerves to stop them from hurting.

my two cents: meds prevent or "fix" the pain signals travelling from your painful body part to your brain via the spinal cord.
Nerve pain needs to be addressed FAST to prevent this pain signal travelling 24/7.
another way they can work is they dull the pain signals whilst your nerves are regenerating (which SHOULD happen, after all you are YOUNG)..again this helps ...
nerves have memory, they "remember" pain. with me, I used to feel a bartholin cyst at first, but there was nothing there. It was just the nerves  "remembering" previous cysts....if that makes sense...
so by this principle, medication MAY help them RELEARN that "hey guys, there is actually no injury here, so please shut the F up, stop giving me pain and   try doing something else in your spare time"
