Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Two weeks ago I had a M.R.I. scan. Should get my results in a couple of weeks. Does anyone know if nerve damage shows up on a scan?

MRI scans would show if a joint was trapping a nerve but not nerve damage, to test for nerve damage they do nerve blocks and nerve conduction tests (painful so I hear). MRIs aren't as great as they're made out to be, when I had my last one for my back problems it picked up fluid behind my uterus that shouldn't be there but didn't pick up the ovarian cyst that was causing it. Your doctor will be looking for any areas in the spine that could be impinging on a nerve such as a disc out etc. If muscles are pressing on a nerve don't be surprised if the MRI shows nothing unusual.
