Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Diagnosed Recently

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Hello to all!

I am new to this forum and I would like to share my story with you all! First of all I would like to say that it is the first time after 2,5 years that I have vulvodynia that I feel that there are people who can understand me. It is very important to me.

Two and a half years ago I took antibiotics and after 4 days I felt itcing in my vagina. I called my gynecologist who gave me suppositories and a cream for yeast infection, although everthing went well with the suppositoties the last day of my therapy, I begin to have terrible burning sensation from the cream. I called my doctor again who gave me another therapy for yeast infection because he thougt that there was an persistence infection. My tragedy started. I took the therapy an every day I was even worst. The tests I did was all clean but the syptoms was there. Ι had around 4 tests and the last one was finally positive at yeast infection. I took the therapy but after that there was no relief for me. I was feeling that every cream and suppository made me even worse. My doctor told me that propably I was allergic to drugs and I should stop everything and try only lactobacillus oraly and vaginally. Nothing happend. I changed doctor who gaved me another therapy for yeast infection and vaginal washes. Finally with all these creams, suppositories and vaginal washes, I destroyed my flora. In all these time (2-3 months) I had around 10 tests and all were clear. I changed doctor again who after 2-3 tests and visits diagnosed me with bacterial vaginosis (probably because of the bad flora). I took antibiotics but again with no relief.

Not to expatiate a year passed with visits at my gynecologist, test which some of them where positive at bacterial vaginosis but most of them negative and myself with not a single day of relief. Burning, soreness and itching were there every day. But something came to make things even worst: pain at urination and frequent urination. I had an homeopathy therapy, reflexology, I visited a dermatologist, a physiatrist and finally an psychiatrist. All with no result. I was in panic, my life have been destroying, I had no social life, I became hypochondriacal because I thought that all these bacteria are responsible for my situation and not to mention my sex life, which bacame a permanet anxiety for me.

However I didnt give up. I made urine tests (which were clear) and after 2 unsuccessful visits to urologists who they simply gave my a therapy of 6 months antibiotics, I finally found this holy man: an urologist who after a lot of tests diagnosed me with chronic pelvic pain and talked to me about interstitial cystitis and vulvodynia. My life is much better now, I take some pills for urination, amitriplyline, I use rephresh which I found very helpful, I wash only with baby shower gel, I wear cotton underweare, rarely trousers and I am able to have sex but not very often. I have my bad days and good days, try to live with that and live normal as far as I can.

I apologise for the big post and for my english. I am from Greece.

Love to all and courage xx

Good to hear that your symptoms have improved. (And your English is excellent.) The most important thing one can do for oneself with this condition is to not give up!
