Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Washing Powder Empty Washing Powder

Post  JemimaSurrender Wed Feb 22, 2012 12:13 pm

I've been told for years to swap my washing powder and see if it makes a different to my symptoms, but as it's always been the same and never used to affect me before the symptoms started, I've always ignored the advice.

But I just wondered if anyone else here had changed their powder and if it had made a difference? And what washing powder do you all use?

I only ask because my powder does smell quite strong on my clothes, and although it's a nice smell, I guess it's not too good for you! My boyfriend has also said that a lot of the time he can actually smell it on my skin down there (eek) so I'd say that tells me it's probably a bit too heavy for me!

I'm quite ashamed to admit though that my Mom does do most of my washing for me still, so I've got no idea what powder she uses. All I know is it's in those little plastic jelly blobs and it's green! I'm gonna say Ariel?? I'll investigate and get back to you anyway!

So yes, if anyone's got any suggestions, or even if it's just to say what you use, as I have no idea about washing powder, that'd be a great help!

Does anyone hand wash their knickers after they've gone through a normal wash too? I've heard that's good for them aswell.

Thanks guys!

I tried this when I was first diagnosed. It didn't make a difference to me, but it can for some women. It is an easy thing to try, so it might not hurt to make a switch. If there isn't a different you can always go back.

You can probably test it out by just washing your underwear and pants in something different.

As for what detergents to use, I'm not 100% sure. I suggest looking for a free and clear detergent. I also hear Ivory Snow is supposed to be very gentle and nonirritating. In addition to switching detergent, it is also recommended to not use any fabric softener or dryer sheets. I also read that it's recommended to wash your underwear a second time with just water to make sure all detergent is gone. I don't do this since I live in an apartment and have a to use coin laundry.

Use non-bio (non-biological). I just use the cheapy supermarket own brand ones. One time I did get biological by mistake and seemed to get a flare up. Not sure whether it was actually related but I’m staying well clear just in case! Basically biological has enzymes in and non-bio doesn’t. The less potential irritants the better!

I don’t bother to rinse through afterwards – I used to but it didn’t seem to make a difference to me. Worth a go, though.

Washing Powder Empty Re washing powder

Post  Sunflower82 Wed Feb 22, 2012 8:40 pm

Hi, I have just started to use Dr Bronners magical soap just use the baby mild liquid soap, I just wash my pants in it have used it for a week and I haven't felt as ichy. You can buy it from whole foods, or u can order it through a website called itchy baby,it is quite expensive but you don't need very much of it.

Hope this helps
Katie
