I'M NEW - Do I listen to my gyno who I feel has it wrong?

Fri Mar 09, 2018 6:17 pm by Tunes25

I am a 25 year old woman and wanted to share my story here as I feel frustrated by the suggestions of my gyno and am hoping for some advice.

To give the context for this: in September 2016 I moved in with my long term boyfriend after living abroad a year and (nearly) abstaining from sex. Within a few weeks I had got a yeast infection which I treated myself successfully, but then 2 weeks …

I cured myself 100% of vulvodynia twenty years ago--I hope this helps someone

Mon Mar 12, 2018 4:33 pm by totallycured

Every so often I'm reminded of the constant, persistent, horrible pain I was in two decades ago, and I reach out to try to help others who are suffering. If someone had offered me a solution during that terrible time, I'd have jumped at it. I hope this helps someone.

Yes, I did have terrible vulvodynia. It felt like someone poured acid all over my vulva. My doctor confirmed it and was …

Recently Diagnosed which has motivated my research study

Hi everyone,

My name is Eliza Barach and I was diagnosed with vulvodynia in October of 2017. I'm also PhD student at the State University of New York at Albany. I work several professors at SUNY, but one in particular, Dr. Mitch Earleywine researches marijuana and its possible efficacy as an alternative treatment. Our previous examined cannabis and symptoms of PMS/PMDD and found that women …

Dear all,

Today has been the day I've been waiting for. The day something FINALLY makes sense.
I've been told countless times that I've got nerve damage or a muscular condition, yet none of the specific treatments have helped me. My GP suggested attacking this from a different angle so referred me to a dermatologist specialist

after having a vestibulectomy with no success, I decided to visit …

Can a cut in the vestibule area cause vulvodynia? Is it possible that some nerve a were damaged that’s why I feel this pain in my area without visible lesions?

Recently diagnosed :(

Hello everyone,

I was diagnosed with Vulvodynia 4 weeks ago. I am in a relationship of 5 years and have never been able to have sex without being in pain. For a while I put up with it but this past year I decided enough is enough and went to a clinic. My main symptom is itchiness and painful sex - it drives me crazy. After many doctors telling me I had thrush and it never going away I seeked more advice from a sexual health clinic. Since the beginning of the year I have been going back and forth to this clinic trying out different steroid creams and treatments until the lady referred me to the hospital to see another specialist.

I saw them 4 weeks ago and was diagnosed with Vulvodynia. I was devastated, still am. They specialist told me to try and remain positive and build up my confidence using dilators. I have been working through the different sizes trying to get comfortable with the pain. I am finding it really hard.

My boyfriend is really understanding and I am extremely grateful for his support. We haven't have sex in a while and to be honest I prefer it this way because I don't have to go through the pain. It really upsets me because I wish I wasn't like this, I just want to be normal and to have a normal sex life..

Does any one else suffer from regular itching? It's really getting me down and I am struggling to find a cream/treatment to calm it down. I have changed my washing powder, I have changed all my soaps, I don't wear tight clothing - I have done everything the doctors have told me to and I am still itchy and uncomfortable. Has any one got any advice/suggestions on this?

Thanks for listening Smile

hi there! i'm sorry about everything youve been going through:(. i also am kind of new to all this when last summer i randomly became very itchy and irritated down there. I have been seeing a specialist and she noticed i had inflamed skin so i've been on steriod cream for about a year now...she said my nerve endings became sensitive to the inflammation so now i've been trying different medications to treat the nerve endings but nothing works so far im still itchy Sad

Has your doctor suggested lidocaine? it's a numbing cream it really helps so much with the itching. I only use it once a day and i barely get bothered by my irritation/itching! I thought i was the only one with itching/irritation.
