Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I'm sorry im rambling

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Diagnosed Recently

Tue Jan 08, 2019 3:55 pm by flissyg

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

I found a blog with a vulvodynia sufferer whom, like me, has nerve pain due to the bartholin gland (recurring cysts, etc).
She is apparently getting alchohol injections to kill the vulva nerves. Now I know this does not work for everyone, but it's an idea.
I also read something about a study where procaine/lidocaine injections were used for general vulvodynia.
crap, right now I'd accept any injection down there to quiet the stupid vibrating pain

I was offered botox, but for vaginismus, I'm not sure if that's the same idea or what. Just make sure if you do go that route, get someone who knows what they are doing that area is very easy to mess up worse with someone who doesn't know what theyre doing. I'd consult a few people just to make sure it's the right idea and then choose who you're most comfortable with. I know with botox they can inject in the wrong area and make it so you pee and poo involuntarily. That freaked me out haha

@ alana I have vaginismus as well, I had 7 attempts at losing my v, it was THAT BAD! I would love some botox down there, it's used for vulvodynia as well.
with these procaine/lidocaine injections I don't think they go for the vagina though, more like trigger points in the vulva.

I remember having lidocaine injections long ago for one of my bartholin abcesses (before they lanced it), they were so painful, nothing compares to that pain. There are no words....but I am DESPERATE

@ Alana did you ever have issues with inflammation of the vestibular glands?

It's never been mentioned so I don't think I do. I'm not saying don't do it, I'm just saying make sure you find someone who is familiar with it. Trust me, I get the desperation factor. Do what you need to do to get better, but keep educated and with the right doctor first and foremost. Smile

Hi ladies, I wanted to tell you what has helped my 22 year old daughter. My daughter has been battling vulvodynia, yeast infections, BV, and even strep B vaginal infections for almost 3 years now.  She's been on the neverending revolving door of antibiotics, vaginal creams, lidocaine, hydrogen peroxide douches, etc., etc.  She was very VERY close to having surgery. However, FINALLY I SAID ENOUGH IS ENOUGH AND TOOK OVER!!  There's nothing worst than seeing your child in so much pain and agony, and it was so heartbreaking watching this "animal" take my daughter's womanhood away from her.  SUPER SAD!!  Sad

Here's what I did and, shockingly, it has helped her tremendously.  Even to the point where she and her fiance' are actually having sexual intercourse with very little to no pain.

1.  Get off all HORMONAL birth control.
2.  Get on a daily regiment of:

Morning:

Garlic pill - 1
Vitamin C (500mg) - 1
Femdophilus - 1
Cranberry pill - 1
Biotin - (she takes this because her hair has been thinning)
* Barlean's, The Essential Woman Supplement, Swirl, Chocolate Mint - 1 TBSP
* Flaxseed Oil - 1 .... once the Barlean's, The Essential Woman Supplement, Swirl, Chocolate Mint drink once it's gone.  The two main ingredient's in this drink is Flaxseed Oil and Primrose Oil.

Evening:

Folic Acid - 1
Jarrow IBS 299V Probiotic - 1
Femdophilus - 1
Cranberry pill - 1
Biotin - (again, she takes this because her hair has been thinning)
* Primrose Oil - 1 .... once the Barlean's, The Essential Woman Supplement, Swirl, Chocolate Mint drink once it's gone.  The two main ingredient's in this drink is *Flaxseed Oil and *Primrose Oil.

She also uses a spray bottle to spray that area with a mixture of vinegar and water while taking her daily shower.

About 2 weeks after starting this regiment, I'm telling you, it's been like night and day for her.  She is so happy right now.  Almost makes me want to cry.  And btw, she had a copper IUD with NO HORMONES inserted for birth control.

Also, we will be adding Zinc (and copper ... needed with zinc supplementals) to her daily regiment.  I found some very interesting articles that say that low zinc levels are often found in people who have acne and hair loss/thinning due to their hormones being out of whack, "PARTICULARLY IN LOW PROGESTERONE LEVELS," which, voila', is often noted in women with vulvodynia.

Anyway, I just wanted share what has dramatically helped my daughter with this awful, AWFUL thing.  I don't know if her daily regiment will help all, but even if it helps 1 or 2 people, that's a couple women less to have to live with this evil problem.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!!
