Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I'm sorry im rambling

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Diagnosed Recently

Tue Jan 08, 2019 3:55 pm by flissyg

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Hi ladies!!!
Is there anyone else from Perth, Australia on here?
I am so desperate, I don't even know what to say!!!

I have had this condition my whole life!! But have reached a point (at almost 40) where I do not know what else to do!
I am married to a wonderful man who has been really patient and supportive (but who gets very frustrated at times!! But who can blame him?!) and we have 2 children!
I know that may seem strange considering I have this issue - but both of them were conceived by my husband ejaculating at the entrance of my vagina!!! And both we conceived first go both times!!! So I think strong swimmers and very fertile eggs!!!
We got married in 2004 and I can count on one hand the times we have had proper intercourse - and they usually include a bottle of wine or two!!
I have been to so many specialists and doctors in my life - and I really don't want to go to any more. They just hurt me and make it worse! Plus I think you become a lab rat that they want to experiment on too!!!!
I have tried to keep a check on my diet as well as I think Candida plays a big part too - and this does seem to help. Along with taking probiotics.
We had a huge fight last night - or should I say a huge "silence" where neither of us know what to say to each other any more. In fact he left for work this morning without saying goodbye - for the first time EVER!!! I can't stop crying and feel really really sad!!
I read something on here before about coconut oil - I am eager to try this and see if it works!!! Have many of you tried it?

I am so happy to have found this site - so nice to know that you are not alone in this. Although it would be great to find a solution for all of us!!!

Hi Charmaine

I really feel for you having suffered for so long - I'm sure you will find good support and advice here. And i so hope that you and your husband are talking again. I know sometimes I withdraw from my husband/family/friends when my vvd gets me down but i've learnt that its better to keep those 'withdrawal' periods short!

You asked about coconut oil - I use it when i wear sanitary towels to try and prevent irritation and sometimes use it as a lube. For me its not a miracle cure but it does help minimise irritation. Be sure to use the purest form - virgin, organic, coldpressed.

You don't say what other treatments you've tried - I guess a lot since you've had it so long. But there's lots of info/ideas on here - pelvic realignment, yoga and pilates have helped me hugely. Hope you find something that works for you.

Hi Charmaine, I don't know how you have dealt with this for so long, but you will get through it. I have not tried the coconut oil, but I agree with Loulou. My physical therapist has been wonderful and has helped me out so much, she even told me to get a dilator set so I can also do therapy at home. My problem is muscle tension, so depends what the source of yours is. I have also been seeing a neuro-muscular massage person who is great and has helped me out. I will start seeing a chiropractor tomorrow, I found out my hips are not aligned. Doing yoga and doing some deep breathing exercises has really helped....will be starting meditation soon. I have also done yoga, had to stop due to back injury! While I did it, it was great....I had 20 minutes to myself. It was a time to not think about anything but my breathing. I understand about having fights/arguments with your husband, I'm in the same boat. With both of us being frustrated and stressed at times with this condition, it's so hard not to have complicated times. Things will get better, just remember stress=more pain. If I can help in anyway let me know. Good luck!

Thank you ladies - it makes such a difference knowing that there are others who understand what you are going through.
Since I posted the above, I have been using the coconut oil and it seems to be helping a bit.
I am also in the process of changing my diet.
Gluten free, dairy free, sugar free and low alkaline!!!
Not sure about helping my nether regions just yet, but I certainly feel a lot better - even though it has only been 3 days!!
I am going to settle in to my diet thing first (as I know I have Candida and as we know Candida is a great friend of V!!)
I do also want to go and have my pelvis etc checked by a chiro - as I could not give birth to my son as he got stuck. They said that my pelvis may be twisted - but would love to know for sure!!
It really feels great to be on my own path to health and being V free!! And without a doctor and their invasive prodding and poking!
