Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Hi Guys!

I'm Megan, I'm 21 and about to get a vestibulectomy in 6 days.  I've been dealing with my vulvar vestibulitis for many years, and after lots of different treatments, I've decided to take this next step.  With this being said, I've gotten the most valuable info about the surgery from women's blogs.  I decided to write my own, and it would mean a lot to me if people who had gone through a similar experience, or maybe even someone who is curious about the procedure would check it out or maybe even leave some comments.  Here's the link: vvsthestruggleisreal. wordpress. com It might be a good read, i can be slightly amusing when I try!

Thanks for the support!

Hey honey, best of luck with the surgery! Seeing as vestibulitis is what you have, I think it could very well be a success! I know Alana3 had the surgery and it went very well.

I do have a burning wound type pain around the opening, that is part of the vestibule right? , so it could possibly be something I could look into for myself as well. I have a few other meds to try plus acupuncture but if nothing else makes a dramatic difference I will be demanding a vestibulectomy!

I'm having my vestibulectomy on the 17th after dealing with provoked vulvodynia for about five years. Good luck! I hope it goes well for both of us. I might have interstitial cystitis too, so I don't know how this is going to affect it, but I haven't had a flare up for over a week now.

Hi! I had a full vestibulectomy on the 17 of this month too!! I saw Dr. Goldstein in DC. I have so many questions and concerns as to whether I am healing correctly. I would love to talk to you or anyone else who may have some insight into this because I'm basically lying here freaking out about everything wondering if it's normal. How did your surgery go Fingerscrossed? Which Dr. did you go too?

Hi everybody, I'm glad I found you all! I saw that a couple of you recently had a vestibulectomy this month and was wondering how it's going for you. I had a partial done on Dec. 24th and I'm not sure how it's going. I'm still in a bit of pain. Three days after my surgery I thought I was doing great but then I got a horrible stomach virus and was sick with a fever and vomiting for about 12 hours. My husband took me to the ER because it was a Saturday but once they got my fever down and gave me some nausea meds they said everything was fine and sent me home. I don't know if that set back my healing time but starting today I have a lot a burning pain there and the bleeding/spotting started back up. I still can't sit with out my reliable donut cushion and I've also noticed that I have a new, bad pain where I didn't have before. I only had a partial and they also removed my hymenal ring because that was where the pain was but I noticed a pain that's further up my vulva and really intense when touched, not that I'm poking around, I found it while wiping and applying Neosporin like I was instructed. I'm starting to get paranoid the surgery didn't help or worse, made things worse. I know it's only been six days but I was REALLY hoping to get past this.

Hi!
That stomach virus sounds horrible! I would not want to be dealing with that the first week, so it's awesome that you got through it! Don't worry too much about recovering too slowly, I was having a lot of those symptoms the first week but now I'm doing a ton better. The first week sitting was not even ind of an option, Not even on one of those pillows. I had spotting for the first week and a half, and my doctor said it's normal for up to 2 weeks. I actually had some pain in different parts of the vulva too, (parts that didn't hurt before). I think it's normal but I don't anatomically know why... Try not to anticipate a bad outcome just because of the first week! It will probably take a lot of time to heal, and less then a week in it's expected that you would have a lot of pain! Hopefully things look up for you!

Thank you for the quick response! Yes, that stomach thing was AWFUL! I haven't been sick like that in many years and hope I don't have to got through that again. You made me feel better. I was mostly worried about the pain in new places and it's a relief to know it's not just me. I'm going to try not to worry and let myself relax but sometimes it's hard. For the most part I think I'm recovering well, the pain has definitely improved so that's a good sign! Thanks again for your response and happy new year!

I had my vestibulectomy on the 23rd and actually had a string of illnesses right before the surgery including a stomach virus. I'm having issues accepting the yoyo pain. I feel considerably better one day then worse the next, but this is so normal. The ibuprofen they gave me to take decided to try and give me an ulcer so I feel your pain. know that you are definitely not alone! And remember 2014 will be the best year ever!

Oh, yeah, ibuprofen is bad. I try not to take it but the Tramadol they gave me wasn't helping so I started taking ibuprofen. I just have to be sure and eat every time I take it. For the first few days I felt like I was eating all day long. Hahaha! I guess it makes sense that we would have good days and bad days like anything else. Here's to hoping we do have the best year in 2014!

Well, I just took my first look today and the whole left side of my vulva going down onto my leg is black and blue with bruising. I guess that explains the new and really intense pain I was worried about! OUCH! I do bruise very, very easily but this was still unexpected. Lol.

Trust me it's worth it Smile not a bad recovery either at least for me I wasn't in too much pain. How are you doing? How long ago was your surgery? Did you have to do the whole sexy prop on your elbows to eat because you couldn't fully sit down? Haha hope you're doing well where are you and who did your surgery

My surgery was on the 24th so about a week and a half ago. I think I'm doing really well especially considering that I ended up with a bad stomach bug three days after surgery, I had to take pain meds the first three or four days but after that it has been mostly tolerable. I pretty much stood or laid down for the first week if I was forced to sit I had one of those travel neck pillows that I used as a donut. I ate standing up though. LOL. But yesterday I was able to sit without the pillow so that's a win! I'm still having minor spotting but everything seems to be going well.
I'm in Houston and my surgeon was Dr. Fisher. She's a urogynecologist so I'm not sure how often she does this type surgery but she's very knowledgeable; she was the first doctor to actually know exactly what was going on after nearly six years. I like her a lot and so far I think she did a good job. Smile

Yes, thank you! Everything seems to be going well. The bruising is pretty much all healed and I haven't had much pain lately. I do think I've developed an infection, maybe BV so I'll probably call my doctor about that. I have my follow-up appointment next Monday but I think all is well. Of course the true test will come when I can try to have sex again. lol! Thanks for checking on me. Did your recovery go smoothly?
