Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams
Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21
Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?
Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder
Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie. I live in the UK.
I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia. I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.
I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

Dear All,
I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.
I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,
I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!
So this is my story:-
I’m 36, and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”. The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Hi everyone,
About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

lapaoroscopy
Yes, I know this is for vulvodynia, but was wondering if anyone here had a laparoscopy for endometriosis? I'm getting one next week and am extremely nervous. If anything, I just kinda want reassurance. Anyone?

Re: lapaoroscopy
Hi Alana,
In 2006, I had a laparoscopic procedure for ovarian cysts. I was put under and they made 3 small incisions. One in my belly button and two on either side of my abdomen. The recovery wasn't too bad. I felt a bit bloated from air in abdominal space and a bit of shoulder pain also from air in there. This doesn't last long. A bit sore/tender where little incisions are and generally. I was back to work in a week. Comparatively, I'm thinking this will be an easier recovery than your vestibulectomy. But I'm not sure of procedure for endo.
well wishes!

Re: lapaoroscopy
Thank you so much! I'm just a huge baby and had a freak out when they did my vestibulectomy too- they gave me max anxiety pills and I was still flipping out in the OR! haha and that surgery was not even close to being a big deal- it sounds way worse than it is. How long were your incisions hurting for? And are they big?

Re: lapaoroscopy
They were sore/tender for a week I think.....long ago now . The two side ones were about an inch long. I couldn't see the one in belly button. Did they describe your procedure? Does this sound similar?

Re: lapaoroscopy
They were purple at first but small. Now only about a 1/2 inch and white. I struggled to find them when looking
Hope it goes well

You will be okay, Alana!! The scars are not super noticeable unless you are someone who tends to make ultra-scars in response to small cuts (and this isn't most people! Vast, vast majority have borderline unnoticeable scars when all is said and done). Hoping the procedure goes well, and hugs!

Hi Alana I have had 3 laps done due to Endo years ago. I can only just see one scar in my belly button. Have you ever had laser done for your Endo ?

Re: lapaoroscopy
No I havent had anything done because my vulvodynia was so bad they werent sure what was going on. Now that my endo is under control and my periods when I get them are still bad they decided to do the lap to see wjat was going on and get rid of it if its there but my doc is worried it may be adenomyosis. What was your recovery like?

Re: lapaoroscopy
my recovery was great, my shoulders were sore for a day or 2 and I felt a little tired other wise it was great. My periods were also heavy I had a curette and that fixed up those. It was along time ago though. Compared to your other op you had done you will find it a breeze. Best wishes xx

Does that period procedure stop your periods all together? THat's what I'm aiming for!

Re: lapaoroscopy
no it doesn't stop them altogether, it just is like a clean out... my periods were never heavy again though.

Re: lapaoroscopy
Hi Alana!
I know this is an old post but I have just been back on the boards recently looking for any new hope. Anyways I had a laproscopy done to remove a demoed cyst when my gyn also found endometriosis...joy. The surgery was actually not painful at all but I can't say my periods are any better. I still get nasty cramps and switch around from naproxen and another prescribed anti inflammatory which i can't remember off the top of my head. Don't stress its an easy surgery and easy recovery!
xoxo

nothing! sorry, didn't mean to scare you. It was honestly so easy and I would much rather undergo that than have constant burning V pain!

Re: lapaoroscopy
I wouldn't. I think endo is way worse than v. But mine was only provoked so I couldn't have sex. Which sucked, but this pain is all day everyday and I cant get out of bed. I'm losing jobs, friends, boyfriend, cant workout, cant go see my horse. I'm drugged up and it sucks. But I may also have adeno too which could be why it's so painful. But I hate surgery it freaks me out. Tho the vestibulectomy was the best thing I ever did for myself. Even tho I still think I'm going to have pain, I don't haha but I always claw the crap out of my boyfriend during sex and than I'm like oh wait it doesn't hurt anymore. I'm assuming the vestibulectomy was way worse than this.

Re: lapaoroscopy
oh wow well i'm totally opposite. I didn't even know i had endo until i had a cyst removed and it was burned off. My V on the other hand is unprovoked and provoked if that makes sense. Right now I'm having such an awful flare 24/7 burning/crying/can't sit, can't stand i'm sure you know the deal. But even when I'm not having an unprovoked flare when i have sex it feels like I'm getting stabbed ugh. My boyfriend is great though but even he says during sex it feels like he is hitting a wall (sorry if that is TMI) so i know i also have pelvic floor issues. I have an appointment to see Dr. Goldstein so i'm hoping for some guidance. I know the surgery isn't typically for those with unprovoked but I believe i have a mix of both so maybe I will be a candidate and get some relief like yourself. Trust me though laproscopy is very painless. I had it at 16 and was ready to go out to a friend's sweet 16 the same night (not that i did lol) My boyfriend also just had his appendix removed the same way and even he said it wasn't painful. I think you are a rockstar for surviving a V surgery so having laproscopy will be a walk in the park!
