Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams
Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21
Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?
Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder
Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie. I live in the UK.
I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia. I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.
I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

Dear All,
I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.
I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

MonaLisa Touch

Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,
I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!
So this is my story:-
I’m 36, and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”. The following morning I woke up …

Hi everyone,
About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. Flare-up caused by flu?
Hello everyone. I've been mostly free from vulvodynia for months now, nothing but the odd minute or two of soreness at the start of penetrative sex and a brief bit of soreness afterwards, which I can easily work around. However, my partner and I have both had the flu for the last two and a half weeks, and for some reason it's made the vulvodynia flare up again. I cannot work out why. At first I was starting to wonder if I was having a reaction to all those Strepsils, it was pretty much the only unusual medication I was taking! But I'm no longer needing them except occasionally, and the vulvodynia has just got a bit worse. Any ideas? I also have moderate/severe ME and a mast cell disorder, amongst other things.
I'm trying daktacort cream, hydrocortisone cream, and aloe vera, but nothing's helping. Not that they ever did all that much, admittedly. I'm planning to go back to doing the stretches from Heal Pelvic Pain to see if that helps, and he's away for the next week so there will definitely be no sexual activity of any kind.

Re: Flare-up caused by flu?
Probably because your immune system was compromised. Are you sure you don't have a yeast infection? That can actually feel like vulvodynia if it got out of hand (I don't have vulvodynia anymore, but shit when I get a yeast infection it feels like it!). Maybe go to a doc and see if he can treat you with a few rounds of diflucan if you do end up having yeast!

Re: Flare-up caused by flu?
Hmm, maybe. I am frequently suspected of having a yeast infection, but it never turns out to be that. BV a couple of times, though. Anyway, the thread on magnesium oil reminded me that I've heard of some people using that on their vulva. Mainly as a good way to get it to absorb, but I think there was some talk about pain, even if it was just that it stung briefly but then stopped. So I randomly decided to try that, very cautiously of course. As promised, it stung briefly but then stopped. Today I'm not as bad as I was yesterday, so I put it on again. I'll report back on whether it helps.

So glad you were mostly free from V for months. If it went away once, it can go away again. How are you feeling now?

Re: Flare-up caused by flu?
It didn't help, and things are getting worse. I can see two reasons from yesterday why it might be worse. One is that I had a brownie-in-a-mug that involved quite a lot of sugar. (I'm having cooking appliance woes, I'm stressed.) The other is that I spent quite a lot of the evening enjoying oral sex with my partner, which involves my legs in a certain position, and also off to one side a bit. Today my entire pelvic area aches. It's hurting to have a bowel movement. My thighs are horribly tender. I feel like I've been beaten up. Now, ME is primarily a muscular problem, so the ME flare might be making things worse, but I've never had an ME flare go for my pelvis like this.
I'm taking muscle relaxants in the form of diazepam (not something I can take long-term as it's addictive, but in the past the GP's cleared me to take it continuously for a fortnight, and hopefully the muscular problem will have settled by then), plus paracetamol (hah) and one tramadol. I'm also doing the stretches from Heal Pelvic Pain, which are far more painful than they've ever been before, and will try to do them several times a day. And I'm curling up with the electric heated throw wrapped around my middle. Now all I have to do is...call electricians and induction hob manufacturers. *sigh*

Re: Flare-up caused by flu?
Incidentally, when I'm doing certain stretches, there's a part of my left thigh which is so sore it feels like I've got a burn there. Very strange. I'm in the middle of my third set of stretches for the day, though, and the support worker who's coming round tomorrow can give me a massage, concentrating on the relevant areas.
