Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams
Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21
Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?
Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder
Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie. I live in the UK.
I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia. I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.
I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

Dear All,
I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.
I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,
I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!
So this is my story:-
I’m 36, and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”. The following morning I woke up …

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. Vestibulectomy
Hi,
So on Wednesday I had a Vestibulectomy. I am 19 so they were quite surprised with how young I am to have one. I have been suffering with Painful Sex for just over 2 and a half years.
The operation went really well. They said they had to remove a lot of skin, more than they thought. I wasn't that sore when I came round, but to be honest I wasn't really with it due to the anaesthetic. I felt very sick, and was kept in for a few hours.
They gave me co-codamol and ibuprofen, and I took these as instructed.
The next day (2) I slept a lot. I wasn't very conscious so I didn't really notice the pain.
Day 3 - I was feeling very sick and was eventually sick. My mum believed this to be down to the co codamol so I switched to paracetamol. The pain was also unbearable. I hardly slept that night, because I kept waking up in pain. However I napped in the day on day 4 so that wasn't so bad. I am currently on day 4 and I am very uncomfortable. There is some swelling and frozen peas do help, but they melt so you can only have them for so long....
I have been told to use some tea tree oil - 5 drops in a bath. I also wash my vagina with 5 drops and a teaspoon of milk in a jug of warm water before and after I wee, to help any stinging and to keep it clean. I then dry the area with a hair dryer. But you need to keep the paracetamol and ibup regular.
I have read a few different things, most say that after day 5 it starts to become less painful. So i'm hoping that after tomorrow I will be in less pain and will start to be more mobile. Im hoping to sleep all the way through tonight.
I had a look at my vagina - I wouldn't advise it! It looks awful, it is all blue/black and bruised and is ugly as! Hopefully this will all be worth it! I just want to get out of the intense pain stage... I can deal with being uncomfortable but pain is a big no no for me - I am a wuss.
If anyone has any advice or wants me to answer anything/update them then let me know.

Everything sounds normal you'll love it when you're healed. I don't remember that much pain but were all different!

Good! Thanks for saying so. I can't wait to be normal! It's been the worst thing ever so I'm looking forward to being healed!
The pain isn't as much today so the swelling must be going down

Re: Vestibulectomy
I literally slept with an icepack for 3 weeks I kept it on at all times and I had no pain after 3 days. I went out on day 4 for lunch and ripped a few stitches (which didn't hurt). You should be ok just use your ice and get up and walk as much as you can don't overdue it tho, you're still recovering from surgery and need rest but you need to move too. But ice was my lifesaver it kept my swelling down and I had little problems after.

Re: Vestibulectomy
Brilliant. I've used one every day mainly in the morning but not all day so may have to increase the amount of time I use it. I've been walking about today a lot more and it sometimes feels better to be up than lay down.
Thanks so much for your advice.

Re: Vestibulectomy
Yup I slept with ice when I wasn't moving there was ice in my pants haha. My dad would come in at midnight and get me more ice it was nuts! But well worth it. Yeah I never looked at my vag during recovery too scary. I would use a light soap down there, I was too scared to touch it and got a yeast infection (oops lol) but keep it clean, my doc was like you can touch it now! haha But def don't be afraid to touch it. Just be careful. I also do physical therapy for a few months after and I think that really helped. I didn't have sex until like 8 months after only because I didn't have a boyfriend. I will tell you I was really freaked to have sex, but we went slow and it was fine just a little tight. But I think a lot of that was me tensing. But I totally recommend it- totally great surgery haha you'll be feeling better in about 2-3 weeks and then it's downhill from there. Let me know if you have any other questions

Re: Vestibulectomy
What kind of ohysical therapy? How did you get into it. Think when it's more healed I'm going to do pelvic floors and some yoga.
Yeah I think I'll be abit anxious to have sex again but when the first time is out of the way hopefully all will be well!

Re: Vestibulectomy
Can I offer a suggestion? I don't want to meddle but it REALLY helped me after. PT I just went, but I had been going for some time prior. It was concentrated on pelvic floor. And I love yoga- hadn't been in some time, but looove it!

Re: Vestibulectomy
After I got the OK return to life I bought a vibrator and used it myself so I could reassure myself that it wasn't going to be bad. I used it everyday for 15 minutes in the shower to stretch out any sore muscles and get my brain used to having something down there where it wasn't hurting. It helped when I went to have sex because I still had the OMG ITS GOING TO HURT but because I used the vibrator it was less of a horrific ordeal in fact it was quite lovely lol. But a vibrator or dilators (which come in like 5 different sizes) I def recommend! How are you feeling today???

Re: Vestibulectomy
Okay! I'll try that then definitely. Makes sense cos like you say re-introducing it to that area. Won't be such a shock to the system when I have sex again.
A lot better! Still stings abit but it's bearable. It stings more in the morning which is a pain but I slept right through last night! Been up more today trying to keep mobile.
Not sure if I have an infection cos I am still bleeding a little but there's a yellow tinge to it. May phone my doctors tomorrow and see what they think.

Wondering..
Ive been considering, lately doing a V surgery myself. Im feeling alright right now, but I live in fear of it returning. @Alana, do you use Lubrication during sex??, 3 times a day seems like ALOT after surgery, that sounds awesome actually, since even doing it once a day everyday makes me sore, if that..

Re: Vestibulectomy
I used lube sometimes. I used one called "yes" because the kiwi in another one made me react.
Hahaha it is a bomb site!!! But yeah it's gettin better day by day, just have to wait for the results but there's an 80% success rate so I'm very confident with those results!
