Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams
Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21
Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?
Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder
Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie. I live in the UK.
I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia. I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.
I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

Dear All,
I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.
I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

MonaLisa Touch
Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091
Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,
I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!
So this is my story:-
I’m 36, and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”. The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help
Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124
Hi everyone,
About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

AMH Hormone Levels

AMH Hormone Levels
OK,
So it has been a while since I posted on here, I go back to the Specialist in a few weeks.
But my GP got the result of one of my hormone tests back. I paid to have an off-the-wall hormone test done that usually does not get tested unless the doctor really knows their stuff, it usually gets dismissed.
The hormone is called AMH, or Anti-Mullerian Hormone. The normal level for AMH is around 30...my levels are 129!!!!!!!
My GP does not know much about it, he said it is extremely rare. The raised AMH level is caused by either Overload/dominance of another hormone and/or polycystic ovaries [which is also caused by hormone dominance].
It causes Ovarian Hyper-stimulation Syndrome or OHSS. This is usually only ever associated in women who are pregnant or on fertility drugs. I'm not pregnant or on any drug of any kind. Been off the pill for 9 months. It is all very off-the-wall and mind-baffling because it is so rare.
OHSS is basically when your ovaries receive hormone overload, Your ovaries can swell up to 20 times their normal size and leak fluid. Anyone who has been following my journey knows I have been really ill with constant fatigue, nausea and vomiting... which are all major symptoms with this hormone imbalance. I also get extremly bloated, my stomach goes from being flat and having abs to looking like Im about 4 months pregnant when I havn't even eaten anything.
And my GP said it can also cause Vulva issues!
My GP said he has never seen it in the whole 20 years he has been a doctor.
So, I have to go back to my specialist to get my other results and put the pieces of the puzzle together as to what my other hormones are doing.
I will let you know how I go.
If anyone knows anything about AMH and OHSS please let me know, as it is not something I know much about and google just raves on about IVF drugs and PCOS.
I am just scared that this will be another totally different issue to deal with and not related to my itching and burning
I have been trying to think positive but now that my appointment is getting closer, doubt and fear are starting to kick back in again.

Re: AMH Hormone Levels
Let me know how you go It turned out I have low estrogen and PCOS. The PCOS diagnosis came as a little bit of a shock because I thought it usually only happened if you are overweight, which I'm not. I wear a size extra small in most clothes. He also suspects I have endometriosis so I am on the waiting list for a laproscopy and hystoscopy to confirm it, as well as seeing if there is any internal reason for my vulvodynia.
I hope you got a good outcome at the doctors.

Re: AMH Hormone Levels
Hello,
so I FINALLY saw the specialist! She is ruling out any hormone problem (but I may pay and do to the test independently just for peace of mind). She says the things i have been given before were not appropriate and too much was done at the same time (a bit like doing physio on a leg that is not repaired yet). So She asked me few questions, the examined me with some new piece of machinery (I say my bits on a big screen ) and she prescribed me Lyrica, which says is the only one specifically designed for nerves and not like amitriphtiline which works on nerves as side effect. Also she says that they have physioterapist specialised in vulval pain and I will see them as well. Apparently my case is very interesting : / as i have got both provoked AND unprovoked pain. Apparently the birth control i took a a teenager might have started the chain of pain without me (and lots of other doctors) realising that.
So for now
- Lyrica starting ASAP
- physio in more or less 6 weeks time
- birth control if i want (but i said that i do not want to take it again, which is fine)
next appointment in 6 months.
She says is treatable...I SO MUCH hope so
The doctor I saw is Wendy Reid at the Royal Free Hospital in London
