Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams
Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21
Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?
Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder
Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie. I live in the UK.
I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia. I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.
I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

Dear All,
I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.
I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,
I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!
So this is my story:-
I’m 36, and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”. The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help
Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124
Hi everyone,
About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Some advice please!
Hey lovely ladies,
I just have a few questions and any advice would be much appreciated.
Does anyone else on here have itching as their main symptom? If so did any treatment work? Or anything give relief? Antihistamines and steroid creams do nothing.
Also...I think that because I have been left for so long I am beginning to get on and off nerve pain in my left vestibule...its like a throbbing, almost numbing pain, and its only come on in the last few months. I haven't had it prior and I have been dealing with this for a year and a half. Its freaking me out because I know how hard it is to treat. I am getting even more stressed out because of it.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
I go back to see my specialist in 2 weeks. I hope he has some answers for me after all the tests I have had done.

Re: Some advice please!
Sorry ... i just noticed that you said antihistamines do nothing. I'll leave my comment up though, i case it's helpful to someone else.
Have you tried an oral antihistamine ? That's what i have done with itching, but my itching was due to an allergic reaction type thing. I've also used lidocane for itching and it helped. Benedryl helped me a lot for itching when i had it. I used it for about a week and i haven't had to use it since.
I read one study which said that when women use lidocane at night, every night for 2 weeks, the pain was down pretty much long term. I can't remember where i read that, but i will see if i can pull it up for you.
The treatment was to rub lidocane into the vesible area, or dip a cotton ball in lidocane and leave it in the vaginal opening over night. I haven't tried the cotton ball, and lidocane irritates me if i use it every day. Yet the study was a very high percentage of the women who it did work for, so maybe worth a try?

Re: Some advice please!
I used lidocaine every night rubbed into my vestibules and my pain has gone now. I did this for nearly 3 months. But started to see results after a few weeks of the pain fading. Defo worth a try like yoginimom says.. Weird tho as it's just numbing gel shouldn't work long term but our body's are weird things and anything is worth a try to get rid of this condition.

Re: Some advice please!
Thank you both so much. I was able to get some 5% lidocaine and its been the biggest relief I have used yet! Why wasn't I recommended this sooner! I can function without itching like crazy!
I know it probably wont be a long term fix but any relief is good relief and this stuff is awesome in doing that for me!
At least I can use something to stop me from going insane while I get my hormone problems sorted in the meantime.

Aww wicked! Glad u have a bit of relief for now. Have u not used lidocaine yet then? It's been a god send for me. I still use it every night. Let me know if after a few weeks the pain goes a bit? That's what happened with me so finger crossed it may give u the same relief.

Re: Some advice please!
No I hadn't used it as I heard it burnt the hell out of many ladies, but hey, desperate times call for desperate measures so I caved and bought it. It cost me $30...I didn't have a script coz it doesn't require one, but it has been the best thing I have tried yet. I used it last night but was burning a bit when I woke up this morning so I put some more on after I showered and I'm all good at the moment.
What were your symptoms Sparkle? My main issue is itching everywhere, with come-and-go vestibule burning/pain. I have a lot of hormone problems so until they get sorted I probably won't be fixed, but at least now I can get relief which eases the stress a bit. I actually see my specialist for more results on Thursday so fingers crossed he has some treatment for me.

Re: Some advice please!
It has made a difference Im still itching a bit but nowhere near the extent that I was. I am using it twice a day. How long did it take you to be fully rid of the problem?
Even if it doesn't cure me, its the best relief I have had in a year and a half.

Re: Some advice please!
Im so glad to hear u say that! My burning pain through sex and the stabbing pains I used to get are gone now Sontimes I gett a little niggle and feel they are coming back and somtimes after sex I feel more sore then I should. But I'm defo on the mend if not cured to as much as I could ever have hoped! would say it's taken a few months but started feeling better maybe 2-3 weeks after but it was a slow getting better.
I defo think carry on with this. I also suggest fish oil vitamins and calcium citrate, I take them and I think thy have also helped. No purfumes products touch me down Ther either. But the lidocaine has been massively helpful. So happy that it's helping u too :-)
