Laser treatment for vulvodynia

Hey everyone,

so a bit about me: I am a 22 year old female who was diagnosed with localised provoked vulvodynia a year ago. I am currently on amitriptyline cream and have tried lyrica 300mg but no help. I was wondering if anyone has tried laser treatment? There are only a couple of journal articles about it, but it seems like it could be promising? From my understanding, the laser is used on the parts that are irritated or painful as diagnosed by a q-tip test, which is meant to help stimulate collagen production which in turn causes the overactive nerves to move further away from the surface. I have the opportunity to give laser a go, however i was talking to my specialist and she was saying that, as with surgery, it may cause the condition to become worse because you are, in theory, irritating the area further. Can anyone provide me with any other information?

Hello, I know it's been quite some time since you've written this post about laser treatment. Did you ever go through with it? If it is low level laser or cold laser, then from what my chiropractor has explained to me is that the laser does not damage the skin like surgery (vestibulectomy.) It instead, heals the inflamed tissues and increases blood flow. I have been trying very hard to find someone who can do it, but I can't seem to find anyone. Unfortunately, my chiropractor cannot use theirs for my issue, they can only treat "other" body parts, but if I had the opportunity to try, I would do so in a heartbeat. I would try everything before resorting to surgery. I've read cold laser therapy has good success rates.
