Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams
Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21
Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?
Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder
Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie. I live in the UK.
I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia. I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.
I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

Dear All,
I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.
I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

MonaLisa Touch

Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,
I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!
So this is my story:-
I’m 36, and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”. The following morning I woke up …

Hi everyone,
About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. anyone got TMJ Dysfunction?
I was diagnosed 2 years before v. My mum has it and believes it was caused by her lupus (inflamed joints etc) But my ANA came back negative and I am showing no other symptoms of lupus. Was wondering if anyone else has tmj or has heard of the link between that and v?
When it started I had sharp pain on one side of my jaw and it hurt to open my mouth. When to the doc they told me to not open my mouth wide for a few days and ice and heat. The problem went away for a year. Resurfaced about 6 months ago with a clicking sound when I open my mouth but no pain. So I left it.
This morning woke up with what felt like my jaw viced shut. I eventually slowly got it to open so I could have my breakfast but have a headache on one side eye ache on the same side tooth ache and my ear feels blocked.
Any tips other than ice and sleeping on the opposite side that will help...don't want to go moaning into my docs office again.
what is going wrong with my body?!!!

Re: anyone got TMJ Dysfunction?
This is interesting, because I have had problems with my jaw for years. I always assumed it was because I sometimes grit my teeth while I sleep, which I know is a common cause of jaw pain. My pain isn't very bad anymore. I hardly ever get it, in fact. But it used to be almost every day. My jaw would just stick, and refuse to open. Trying to open it past a certain point was very painful, and the whole side of my face would ache. Now I really only get this if I am nervous. For example, when I go to appointments, I am always very very nervous, and my whole body tenses up, including my jaw. And that's when it becomes impossible to open. My jaw also clicks very loudly whenever I open my mouth, and it's really noticeable when I eat something particularily chewy.
I'm afraid I don't have any helpful advice or info, but I'm interested to hear more about this.
EDIT -- I do actually recommend getting a mouthguard from you dentist. It prevents you from gritting your teeth while you sleep, and is often given to patients with lockjaw/jaw pain.

Re: anyone got TMJ Dysfunction?
I had one bout of the very painful jaw and a doctor telling me not to open it wide years ago but none since. The only connection I can think of is the TMJ breathing connection that Leon Chaitow is very interested in. If you google his name and put something like breathing in the search after that it will bring up lots of his papers on the subject but basically he started off interested in breathing disorders which he states often stem from TMJ and then got interested in how this affects the pelvis because breathing wrong can switch off the Tranversus Abs which of course leads to a loss of stability in the pelvis and tightens the pelvic floor up in an effort to stabilise. He describes it much better than I do so if you find some of his work have a good read.

Re: anyone got TMJ Dysfunction?
I also have (mild) TMJ - my jaw clicks every time I open it wide and I sometimes wake up with it aching. I was given a night guard about five years ago by my dentist but - honestly - my roomate's dog ate it!
The breathing connection is interesting. I'm only not sure how it would lead to nerve proliferation in the vestibule (for VVS) but I'd totally buy it for pelvic misalignment issues.
I'll tell you what bothers me the most about TMJ is that I can't give blowjobs to my partner - and between this and VVS I often feel completely dysfunctional as a sexual partner. Anyone else with this particular 1-2 punch?

Re: anyone got TMJ Dysfunction?
I'm not sure how to answer the BJ question but as for the breathing thing, if breathing wrong messes up the pelvic floor and pelvic floor hypertonicity is frequently found in women with VVS and V I'd say it could lead to those too.

Re: anyone got TMJ Dysfunction?
don't say that....I have been relying on BJ's for a while now, so far no problem, I home tmj doesn't get worse! I will look into the mouth guard.
