Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I'm sorry im rambling

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Has anyone tried Sea Buckthorn oil? I've read it's very good for mucous membranes so could help the skin heal in those of us with raw skin but I've also read conflicting advice on how to use it and which one to buy. Some people apply it to the skin and others take it internally, anyone know which one would be best? Anyone also know of a good brand to buy? I've seen a Weleda one but it says it's blended with sesame oil so I don't know if that would be ok or not, anyone??

new one on me! Thanks I'll look into that.

One consultant suggested Zinc and caster Oil to keep it all moisturised down there. It did soothe things. At the mo I dont use anything. Just seeing what happens really. My observation of this....bugger all!! Smile

I already tried the zinc and castor oil cream, like you say it helps soothe the skin but doesn't heal it. I have to apply oily products to the skin or the the pain gets unbearable, I tried applying nothing but it sent my pain through the roof so I'm trying to find something that actually soothes and heals rather than just soothes.

I've managed to find out you can use sea buckthorn oil either way, the capsules by mouth should take at least 6 weeks for any difference to be noticed in the mucous membranes but applying directly to the skin should show results quicker. The oil has to be pure though and the one I mentioned from Weleda isn't. I've ordered a bottle from an ebay seller which has cost £14 for 50ml so it's not particularly cheap but I guess this will last me ages. The other thing is the oil is orange so will stain underwear if it touches it!

Sea Buckthorn Oil Empty Re: Sea Buckthorn Oil

Post  Sarah001 Sun Jul 04, 2010 1:10 pm

Just thought I'd update on the Sea Buckthorn Oil, I tried it applying 100% pure oil directly to the skin and it made no difference to me except it stained my underwear orange where it rubbed onto it! Alot of women apparently find it instantly soothing but that wasn't the case for me. I actually found it a bit drying if that's possible with an oil, if I used it again I would turn it into an ointment form but I don't think it's likely I will as I got none of the instant relief other women have mentioned.

Yes, I can't remember the site though but it needs to be 100% pure so it isn't mixed with anything that could irritate.

I think I'm going to give this another go too but I'm going to make it into an ointment this time so it's moisturising and protective enough for my skin. There's too many positive reviews about it online from women with dryness and soreness from the menopause for me to ignore it! I'll make it today and see how it goes for a while. If you do try it Sebby remember it is orange and will stain underwear, and I can confirm it doesn't wash out either!

It does stain skin but not permanently!! It washes off skin but not clothing. You can mix it with vitamin E oil if you want to, it won't hurt it and as it's got alot of vitamin E in it should just add to it's effectiveness.

I can tell you it's got to be the worst oil I've ever tried to turn into an ointment, I've been making them for years and usually it's very easy but the Sea Buckthorn was a nightmare to get right! I've finally got a jar of ointment made but I don't know if my skin is going to like it, it wasn't keen on the oil so we'll see.

Ok so its not permanant..Thank Goodness!

I will try the vitamin E oil first to check if its ok for me. I have used it before by cutting open capsules so hopefully I wont react bad to it.

I will then order the seabuckthorn. It sounds like an annoying oil tho lol...lets hope it does help

Thanks Sarah

If you get on with Vitamin E oil it's alot cheaper and easier to buy a bottle of the oil, I got a bottle recently from an Amazon seller for about £5 and there's loads in it.

Nope, it's no good my skin doesn't like this as oil or as an ointment so my efforts were wasted. Rolling Eyes Back to the zinc and castor oil cream for me, that seems to be the only thing my skin doesn't object to.

has anyone tried Aquaphor? my doctor recommended that i use this. it is a healing ointment for dry, cracked or irritated skin. I used it for quite awhile. i don't have to use anything on the skin anymore. but..when i did, it didn't irritate the skin and it kept it moist. it has 41% petrolatum. give it a shot if you're interested. i bought it at a store. the name brand is Eucerin.

I know exactly what you mean, I tried a Vitamin A and E ointment that's intended for babies and it was the same, just stuck in patches and didn't help one bit! I'm actually using Calendula ointment at the moment, it's very good at keeping the skin moist and calendula is a natural skin healer so it might help if I stick with it.
