Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Tue Jan 08, 2019 3:55 pm by flissyg

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

I got my passionflower from an Amazon seller I use for other bits, it's Swanson Passionflower. I took one last night and it made me really woozy, I'm going to try a lower dose today and try and take it away from all my other meds to see if that helps. I'm very pleased I didn't take it before I had to drive or anything, I was really dizzy like when I first started on the Ami! The capsules are 500mg though and looking around online it seems the dose needed for anything other than sleep is only about 90mg so I may try and mix some of the powdered herb into a drink or something. I'm pretty sure it's because of the other medication I take because it does recommend not taking passionflower along with anti-depressants because they both have a sedative effect. I'll definitely be giving it plenty of time before I add other stuff!

I have no idea where Vicki went to, alot of the old regulars seem to have vanished these days.

I just found this -- SKULLCAP TINCTURE

What do you guys think? Safe? Would you add this to hot water and have it like a tea? And how much do you think you should use?

It's worth a try, at the worst it will turn out to be alcohol with no herbs and best it works fine. I have this problem with tinctures, even though I drink alcohol I hate alcohol with a strong smell and don't like tinctures because of that. One thing I have found about Scullcap is it can cause liver damage when taken for long periods of time which is a bit alarming and anyone with current liver problems should avoid it. I still intend to try it out though but I might add it in last as it's the least safe of the lot just in case the others help enough without it. I think tinctures can be taken on their own or mixed into a drink so whatever works best for your tastebuds! Keep us posted!

Oh dear, that's worrying. I found corydalis on ebay, available as a bunch of loose rhizomes. I'm not sure how you use those, so I've sent a message to the seller with some questions. That's the one I'm looking forward to trying the most, as it's taken specifically for nerve pain. I'll have to wait a while until I can afford it though, as it's the most expensive of the three.

Herbs - Sucsess, I can not believe this. - Page 2 Empty Uk Natropaths

Post  bluekangeroo Thu May 17, 2012 8:03 pm

This is really interesting, I'm so glad you have found relief this way Aussie.

I'm a bit confused about everyone saying we don't have natropaths in the UK. We do!

I can't post the link cos I am new here, but google natropath UK and you get the organisation that trains folks in the UK and further down you get the link to the part of the website where you can search for a local one.

Sounds like a good thing to try.

Let me know if anyone has any success with this, or finds a nice natropath that is understanding in this area?

Hi ladies,

Just an update. Came off all herbs to get pregnant, couldnt get pregant as I didn't ovulate because of PCOS. Used clomid to induce ovulation (from OB) got pregnant first go with that and acupuncture. (amazing reslut according to doc usually takes a few rounds of the drug) Due Jan 7th and using Hypnobirthing to birth my baby girl, (google it). Still feeling great with the odd bad day. Pain improved even more once pregnant. I was having some issues with yeast because we were having sex so often and that flared up my vv for a while. One I got pregnant the flare went away. Having about one bad day a month other than that alomst completely normal and on no herbs or meds. Painful Bladder Syndrome barely noticable also!

Vulvodynia has to be autoimune. My OB said she sees it all the time even with skin conditions, IBS, Fibro, lupus, etc etc..all improves in pregnancy because your immune system is lowered.

Coconut oil is amazing for yeast by the way. Better than any probiotic I have tried, smells and tastes awesome too

Post  bluekangeroo Wed Aug 29, 2012 2:52 pm

Hey there, nice to hear you are still doing great.

And congratulations on the baby! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and hope everything stays well for you after the baby arrives.

Do you think it was the herbs that helped in the end? Or something else? Wonder if this is auto-immune or hormonal? Both can be affected by pregnancy. Mind you I have coeliacs too - which is also auto-immune.

Am also intruged by your coconut oil comment, do you use it topically or eat it when you get yeast?

I eat it every day just as a dairy substitute - but never knew it was good for yeast?

Hi bluekangaroo.

The coconut oil I put in my vagina and around the outside. Works better than pro biotic etc for me! I use it as a lubricant for sex too, we have had a lot of fun, its completely natural and it doesn't stain the sheets. You have to get the virgin coconut oil though, i get mine in a tub and its hard and melts at body temp. From a health food shop.

The herbs helped as did the acupuncture, but neither are by any means a cure. The pregnancy has given me the most significant and sustained relief. Herbs and acupuncture did help the most out of what I tried prior to falling pregnant though. I actually new I was pregnant because my vulvodynia pain dissapeared the day after I conceived and stayed away for an entire week.... and has only flared up once or twice since. I am convinced without a shadow of a doubt that vulvodynia, at least in my case is auto-immune. Auto immune conditions are effected by hormones, plain and simple. Anyone that has any other auto-immune conditon co-existing with their vulvodynia can pretty much bet that the two are linked in their case also.

Don’t know why they don’t try immunosuppresants on us.?!?!? It would make sense. MY vulvodynia and IC also die down when I have the cold or flu or stomach bug…..immune system is busy with something else.
