Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I'm sorry im rambling

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

I have more silly questions. I'll ask here because everyone is nice. I may have PN troubles, among other things. Antibiotic caused the yeast and the pain never left. Ok, that has happened to alot of us. Also have an unstable hip. Go to the chiro 3 times a week for a neck, but the hip is bad everytime too. OK? the latest symptom. Is this. Stomach muscles as tight as can be. The ones about two inches either side of the belly button. They seem to run up and down. Where did I get a tight stomach? its as if i have been pumping iron. I dont do much exercise. Is this pn related, anyone know? also have the burning feet, which is a riot. Are these muscles connected to the PN problem? anyone else have this?or know? It may be a clue for me. thanks in advance. cindy

I assume by hip you actually mean your SI joint? It sounds like the rectus abdominals are what you're referring to as they run down the centre of the trunk from the bottom of the ribs to the pubic bone. As for pudendal nerve problems have you been diagnosed with a nerve block? If not then you don't know for sure you have PN issues. The chiropractic treatments 3 times a week on your neck aren't helping you and you ought to stop those, if you need to go 3 times a week it obviously isn't the answer. Everything that happens at the top of the spine (the neck) affects the bottom of the spine (sacrum) and the sacrum forms the back of the pelvis. An unstable pelvis will cause all manner of problems and tight rectus abs is one, it's no coincidence that anything that attaches to the pubic bone can contribute to V symptoms. A pelvis that lacks stability will frequently cause a mild degree of scoliosis which will affect the trunk all the way up to the neck and if you keep repeatedly having the neck mobilised it just makes those upper segments of the spine loose for a while but doesn't address the underlying cause: the pelvis. Don't whatever you do let the chiro manipulate your pelvic joints if they are unstable, alot of chiros think this is the answer but it isn't, there has to be some work done to stabilise the pelvis. If your pelvis isn't stable your deep stabilisers aren't working properly and that forces the body to recruit any available muscles in an effort to stabilise the SI joints, as you can see from that mobilising things isn't the answer or you get more and more unstable which is perhaps why you have this new problem. PN problems wouldn't set the rectus abs off no but the instability of the pelvis would. Did you ever get your pelvic floor checked properly? I think last time we spoke you were planning on ditching chiropractics and going to a women's health physio for an evaluation, did you ever go? If so what were the results?

PN? and stomach muscles??? Empty wow!

Post  grassy Mon Nov 07, 2011 6:05 pm

wow! sarah, you know alot. No I havent gone yet to get my pelvic floor checked yet. I have no insurance, and still am not so sure if its an infection. I'm thinking and plotting. Ok, on the chiro. I cant ditch the chiro. My problem is real real serious. Heres the story. I was almost killed by a dentist. He dislocated all my face bones, pulling a tooth, and he took the bone that held my skull on and pushed it so far it almost killed me. So if i dont go to the chiro, i dont walk or drive. I'd be crawling. Thats why i do the chiro. Its not just an ordinary bad neck probem. Its a Bizaare injury and no md docs even understand what i have. But i do know how the neck effects the low back, and visa versa, thats why I asked. I do have an unstable hip, and one chiro thinks, that the hip goes first and then the neck follows. She was even thinking that if i stabalized the hip the neck might improve. I think your right. That makes alot of sense. The muscles are trying to stabilze a messed up spine. It was very suspicious that i have tight stomach muscles! LOL abs od steel. I was just wondering if it were connected, and i guess by your answer it is. Thank you, you are very knowledgable! I'm going to think about this and plot my next strategy. Thank you sarah for typing that all out for me!

Well said Sarah! you explain things so well. See I know all this but if I was to type it all out it wouldn't make any sense! you did well. Remember also that if you are in any pain at all around your entire pelvic area your entire pelvic area will tense up this includes your abs, mine are the same. Massage helps me loosen them up. I have also noticed my muscles loosing up a hell of a lot now I am not in as much pain. Horrible vicious cycle to be in isnt it Sad

Interesting that you mentioned some degress of scoliosis, I have this!

Cindy, that sounds terrible. I hope you reported the Dentist and got a heap of compo!!

It makes sense, you know just a theory but the way the whole body is connected and tenses up from one small bit of pain in one local area, your neck cound set of your spine, which sets of your hip, which knocks your pelvis out and your SI Joint. It is worth noting that SI dyfunciton can set the Pudental Nerve off. If the gyno or doctor can’t find a cause, I would suggest (and search for) sacro-iliac joint dysfunction. If the innominate (one of the pelvic bones) rotates on the sacrum, it can place adverse neural tension on the pudendal nerve giving rise to all your symptoms. ( Do you have problems with sitting? sitting increases the rotation, exacerbating the symptoms. ) The SIJ becomes restricted and maintains the pelvis at a poor mechanical angle. If you are diagnosed as an SIJ strain, you will then need appropriate mobilisation techniques and a physiotherapist. This could take the pressure off the PN.

Hope this helps, bring it up with your chiro.

Claire
