HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCE CHANGE IN PHYSICAL APPEARANCE DOWN THERE

this is so hard for me to explain or discuss. but i have been reading people's stories since this nightmare began for me in dec 2011 and haven't come across anyone mentioning this so now i am wondering if its just me. i have had all the symptoms everyone has mentioned but one thing that i also have experienced is the change in how my vagina looks. the majora labia has dropped lower and as well they are bigger so they close in over the clitoris and labia minora. this has been over 6 months so now i realise that it would probably never return to its normal appearance. its so bizzare, disturbing and disheartening to see a part of my body actually changed. worse, its very painful as i walk or sit, because the whole vaginal area gets squished when you squish a sliced bread, and i have to actually by hand fix everything back into place. sometimes the pain get so much that i have to pull the labia apart to get some ease. i hate this whole thing of vulvodynia. i can't imagine how something like this could happen and its so evil and destructive i am in no doubt it came straight from the pit of hell!

Hello Blessed, I use a hand mirror to look at my vulva every day. I am terrified that it will turn into something that doesnt even look like a vulva. Ive been noticing some dark browning towards the bottom part of my vulva. Im not sure if it looked like that before and I just didnt notice or if its actually changing because of this freaking thing. I would be devastated if it turned to leather!!!!!! Also Ive noticed a lot of swelling, redness and it kinda looks like my vagina is pushing against the vulva area. Very strange. The gyno has never said anything about it but next time I see her Im going to ask about it. I suggest NEVER to google pictures of vulva's with vulvodynia. It shows the absolute worse case scenarios.

I have to pull my labia apart as well. I use a lot of A and D ointment and it causes the labia to stick together. Also my burning pain covers the entire vulva area, labias, to the pubic area, down my buttocks and my inner thighs.

I know its frustrating and horrifying. I get depressed at times and will cry and feel hopeless. But I never give up. I will see my gyno every single week if I have to. If I have continuous burning, then I make an apt. to see my gyno. I just keep on going there and I keep telling her that it STILL burns and she keeps on giving me different meds. Its expensive to keep trying meds and its upsetting when they dont work but I keep plugging away hoping that one day I will find that miracle med. Lyrica helps sometimes and amitriiptalyne(sp) ointment helps also.

hi. i am sorry that you are faced with such horror too yet it relieves me to know that i am not the only one experiencing the physical change. i thought maybe it was just me and that something else was going on down there rather than just the V. i chuckle when i read your reply because there is not a time i use the bathroom when i don't take my mirror and look to see how things are down there. it is so disheartening and discouraging. i was telling my mom today about it and i told her it looks like lifeless and maybe thats why it squishes the way it does and i have to manually put everything back where they belong. i have given up on going to the docs since they have not been able to help me and since i finally got the diagnosis 6 months after this began, he gave me amitriiptalyne tablets. its only been 3 days since i started taking them so i don't know yet if they are helpful. i can tell you though it makes me feel very weak and drowsy...just what i need, another thing to make me feel horrible. oh well, life goes on and i have to face it one day at a time with God's help. i sure hope you find some relief and hopefully some day we would be able to say its over....hopefully.. :-)

The only physical change I notice is redness of the vagina. When I've been to gyno's etc they always notice it as well....so many people on here have been told because they look fine it's a psychosexual thing, it's not...my pain is there pretty much all the time...and is bad enough even if sex wasn't an issue (obviously that's the big thing with vulvodynia is it's impact on your sex life). But they have never questioned that this is anything but physical with me. I sometimes get paranoid the other way around that they probably think I have an STD rather than a psychological sexual problem.

Speaking of STD's When my gyno did the biopsy she also tested me for STD's, fortunately it came back negative. About 10 yrs ago I started feeling this terrible itching in a few places on my vulva. I thought I had a YI and I saw my Dr. It wasnt a YI, it was vaginal warts. I had about three of them. My Dr. used that freezing liquid to burn them off. But they came back again, so she burned them once more. Then again they reappeared. So I asked her to burn them extra deep and after that I didnt have that prob. again. But anytime I feel a small itch, I get scared because I wonder if they have come back.

The wart virus/disease/or what ever it is, was hidden in my system for many years. I think I got it from my X husband and it was hidden in his system and he never showed any signs of having it. So I was the one who it decided to show itself to. Just my luck.

It really sucks because I wasnt the kind of person to sleep around. I was very careful with whom I had sex with but still I got it. ggggrrrrr

I sometimes wonder if the burning off the warts procedure is one of the reasons I have LSC and vulvadinia.

Oh my goodness, I am so glad I found this posts. Yes, my labia are hanging down below the pubic fat area. I am so disgusted. First it was the pain and now the horrible horrible feeling that the labia are falling out and the disgusting feeling of being squished down there. I have to push up everything so it won't feel so strange.
I use Vit. E suppositories at night, what a mess, and push everything up and pull the fat sides down over the labia.
It is a little comfort to know that I am not alone with this disgusting feeling. I just feel disgusted all over. I feel nasty, from the discharge, and the constant burning makes me angry.
I have just started on Neurontin last friday I take it at bedtime. No help yet.

You had mentioned a discharge. I was wondering what the discharge is like? I have went to the gyno on a number of occasions because of a discharge, thinking it was a yeast infection. Some of the times it was a yeast infection, sometimes it was a bacterial infection and sometimes I didn't have an infection at all. I was told that the discharge is part of the Vulvodynia. Mine is a thick white discharge that looks just like white lotion. The discharge irritates the vuvla area. What is yours like?

Mine is mostly clear on my panties, cotton of course, no smell. But it is what I think is irritating my vulva. The gyn says my pH is correct. But I don't start burning real bad until I'm up and the discharge starts. That is what makes me feel dirty, like I need to shower every few hours because I feel the discharge "dripping" down.
What is your like? Have they checked your pH?
