Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I'm sorry im rambling

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Diagnosed Recently

Tue Jan 08, 2019 3:55 pm by flissyg

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Itching Empty Itching

Post  Sarah001 Fri Aug 20, 2010 12:00 pm

Does anyone else have itching with their vulvodynia? I didn't until this week and now I've got itching of the external skin as well as my usual soreness of the internal skin. Every doctor I've seen has said the lack of itching is one of the key signs of vulvodynia so I'm starting to wonder what's going on. It isn't a yeast infection because I treated for that as soon as the itching started and it made no difference. It's very strange, I've had no itching at all for the entire 7 months I've had this then all of a sudden it started and won't go.

It's so annoying, I know if I put zinc and castor oil cream on the external skin I'll end up with blocked pores and even more problems so for now I've just left it alone. Rolling Eyes If it's still there by the time I see my GP next week I'll be having yet another examination. It's odd though because I had absolutely no itching whatsoever previously and everyone kept saying that was classic of vulvodynia and there should't be any itching.

every once in a great while i may have a little itching. but, for me, it is very uncommon. my last itching episode turned out to be a yeast infection. the infection was gone w/in a few days after diflucan..but the itching lasted about a week after. damn, these Vulvas.

I most definitely get the itching and its usually the first sign for me of a bad flare up to come.

May bad flare up seems to have passed now and I am only a little irritable so I am thankful for that.

As soon as I notice the itching gets intense I no im headed for a bad time Crying or Very sad

I managed to get rid of the itching pretty quickly with some Lanacane cream as it was on the external skin and it hasn't returned so I have no clue what that was all about! Rolling Eyes

I've just come across this thread. Is there anyone else that gets the itching? Can't really remember ever not having it to be honest. It's definitely not an infection as I've had every test going. And I don't think it comes and goes at all. It seems to only be right around the vestibule and it stings like hell. Sometimes it can get a bit itchy on the inside of my labia too and when i gently scratch that it hurts so much.

Is this the same for anyone else, or do you just get it during flare ups?

And is there any advice? Scratch/don't scratch? I don't really want to try putting anything on it to ease it either because I've been told not to use anything whatsoever down there for any reason as it will make the condition worse!?!?

My itching went off but I've just answered another of your posts and wonder if you might have an allergy that's causing both your V and IBS, itching is often associated with allergies in the vulval area so it might be well worth eliminating carbs for a while and also looking at everything that touches the vulva.

I get super itchy in the winter as a result of eczema. strange, since I don't have it anywhere else on my body. I sit in the bath twice a day, and then use vaseline when I'm done for a few days, and it usually clears up. If you scratch, the itching only gets worse, and can tear up your skin making it too painful to pee!

Post  christine12345 Wed Feb 20, 2013 12:10 am

I've been having the same issue with itching for a while now. I had confused it with a yeast infection for quite some time, but all tests came back negative. The past few months my vulvodynia pain has been much better, and the itching seemed to go away as well. However, 2 days ago I had a lot of pain come back, and it's gotten incredibly incredibly itchy (perhaps as a result?). Anyone have any tips for helping with the itch? I've used a ph-balanced gynecologist-approved wash, as well as vagisil to attempt to help, but I'm wondering if they could be making it worse.

(As a note: I'm scheduled for a gyno appointment for April, after trying for months to see someone, so I'm hoping to wait till then to get more tests done since they're quite painful for me.)

i have external itching/irritation/reddness..ive tried a bunch of creams and still nothing has helped me heal. The only thing that has helped with keeping the itching down is lidocaine. I put it on in the morning and i can usually survive through most of the day without feeling the itch
