Gabapentin Gel. or other topical creams

Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

An absolute success story- please read!

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

I'm sorry im rambling

Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:49 am by Jet227

hey, im 19, ive been struggling with this almost a year. The first week I became itchy I went in to check about a yeast infection another week later. I have been to 10 different doctors a total of about 15 appointments for this problem for the past 11 months. I have been tested for everything including having a biopsy. I was first told basically to just go home and use hydrocortazone, then I went …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

I actually brought this up with another girl in a PM. But I was hoping you all could take a look and tell me what you thought!!

I had a really bad fall from a horse and got thrown into the barn hip first I didn't think anything of it at the time (I was young and invincible lol) but my hip has been giving me a really bad time and shocker of all shockers it's the side where my vv is. So im wondering, do you guys think that the VV could be from the pain in my hip? I was thinking if anything did happen (which obviously it did, because it HURTS!) my hip could be compressing nerves or what not causing the VV to happen? The hip pain is way worse than the vv pain (mine is provoked so it only really hurts with sex and tampons or if pissed off stupid hooha is really easy to piss off tho) because its constant. But my VV is mostly on the right side right which is the hip that hurts the most.

What do you think???

Yes that could definitely be it, the muscles around the hips also attach to the pelvic floor and if you've destabilised your hip you could have muscle spasm around it. The adductors are also often involved in both hip and V pain. You need to get yourself off to a physio (preferably Women's Health Physio) and get them to check you over. I'd be willing to bet money you have a misaligned pelvis so don't delay and go get started.

Thanks, I'm scheduled for a vestibulectomy on December 5th but my doctor said he thinks that the two aren't related. I dont know what to even think anymore! I mean my skin is red he showed me where it was inflamed and such, so maybe it's both??! I had a PT who did wonders, but had to stop because my skin was so bad I almost passed out everytime she touched it not ok. I am so afraid of the vestibulectomy its insane, everyone who has had it tho has been really happy ugh.

My opinion is try physio first because if it's muscular a vestibulectomy will not help. It shouldn't just be pelvic floor work it needs to be aligning you and dealing with hips, pelvic and back problems too as they are all connected. The redness can be from tight muscles restricting blood flow to the area and according to my physio tends to go as the muscles gradually improve. A physio can hook the finger behind the inflamed skin to get things going without making it worse and they can definitely deal with the hip issue too. Doctors have very little knowledge about musculoskeletal problems, have a read of this:

http://healthyfocuspt.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Vulvar-Pain-Article.pdf

I originally posted this in the physio section on this forum and it makes for very interesting reading if a musculoskeletal problem is suspected. Until you get the hip etc sorted out you won't be able to release the pelvic floor, physio for V should include alot more than just the pelvic floor and according to my physio she's never encountered a woman yet with V who didn't have a twisted pelvis so I'd definitely get it checked out before you rush into surgery.

Funny enough I read this article over the weekend. I agree with you I have an appointment with an orthopedic on Friday and see what he thinks. I'm so confused :/

I also had a bad fall as a child between my legs, but didn't have any pain post the initial incident. I've always wondered if that was the catalyst. I'm am currently trying montelukast (singluair) 4mg (a drug normally used for asthma), which is meant to bring down inflammation of the skin of the vulva decreasing pain, particularly nerve pain and hypersensitivity.

What I would do alana is print it off and take it with you. Not all orthopods are created equal and if yours is a soft tissue injury that doesn't show on an x-ray they will likely tell you your hip is fine which it obviously isn't if it still hurts. I saw one years ago for my SI issues and they didn't have a clue what was wrong with me but every physio I've ever seen has spotted it right away. If you get no joy at orthopaedics make sure you see a decent physio about your hip before you do something drastic like surgery. Also note the info is from the NVA so it isn't just any old rubbish you can find online. My advice to anyone thinking they may have a hip/pelvis/back issue is to get it assessed because it's a very common cause of V.

If the problem is caused by your hip yes, the only way to find out is go get it treated and see what happens. Good luck.
