Thu May 10, 2018 9:43 am by Rosie21

Hi I have been suffering for some years with this abominable pain. I have tried most of the systemic drugs , I asked specialists and Doctors if I could at least try a topical treatment but because this requires a special prescription have been refused Has anybody had a chance of trying these? Thank you I will try to put a link on to some of the research into Gabapentin Gel. Thanks.

Putnams 'bony parts' cushion or Putnams 'Dr Huff' cushion - which is best?

Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm by Fielder

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie.  I live in the UK.

I'm trying to work out the best cushion to get for my vulvodynia.  I suspect that I could have pudendal nerve involvement (the aching and burning pain is from vagina to clitoris) and I have rectocele and some tailbone pain too.

I have seen some good reports on older threads regarding the Putnams pressure relief cushions....with some ladies …

Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:57 pm by Persevere1990

Dear All,

I posted on here back in March 2017 having just got a diagnosis of vulvodynia after a few months of relentless and acute pain. I was desperate, I was hurting, I was scared I would never know life without pain there again.

I tried creams, acupuncture, numbing gels, frozen pads, baths with various internet recommended concoctions- convinced myself I had lichen sclerosus, herpes, thrush- …

MonaLisa Touch

Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:35 pm by rl2091

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the MonaLisa Touch treatment for Vulvodynia? My pain started when I went on HRT(pill) for anxiety mainly and my pain abruntly stopped when I stopped HRT. However, when I started on the HRT patch (at my dr's suggestion), the pain returned and has never left. That was 7 years ago. I found MonaLisa Touch on the internet purely by accident …

Diagnosed Recently

Tue Jan 08, 2019 3:55 pm by flissyg

Hi All,

I’m so glad I’ve found a place where there are others who understand how I feel!

So this is my story:-

I’m 36,  and 4 months ago, whilst innocently sitting in bed reading I experienced a very sharp stabbing pain in my clitoris. It last only a few minutes and then subsided as quickly as it came on. It put it down to “one of those things”.  The following morning I woke up …

New and need advice and help

Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:26 pm by Cin124

Hi everyone,

About three months ago, I started having vaginal and vulval itching. Then, about two months ago, my vulva started to feel painful and look swollen, so I went to the doctor. I was tested for herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhea which all came back negative. I also had to do a vaginal swab test and the only thing that came back positive was yeast infection. I was prescribed hydrozole …

Honey decreased my pain considerably! Empty Honey decreased my pain considerably!

Hello ladies!

For the past year and more, I have been surfing the internet day and night reading forums trying to find a potential treatment for this vulvodynia/vestibulodynia nightmare. My pain started around 6 years ago for no direct reason, although I highly associate its onset as a result of the chemotherapy treatment I took for my past case of Hodgkin's lymphoma (I am happily in remission for the past 7 years Smile ). After I was done with chemo and moved on with my healthy life, I started realizing some pain around my vaginal area upon touch (like wiping after using the toilet, using pads, etc). I was checked by several gynos who prescribed different ointments with cortisone. They only decreased the pain for a short while but the pain would come back as soon as I stopped using them. Ofcourse these ointments are not intended for long term use so I had to give them up. Then I was prescribed Neuribion (Vitamin B complex pills) that worked on strengthening my nerves and make them less sensitive. I do not know if it was the placebo effect as the pain subsided for a few months but came back after stopping the pills. I thought going back on them can resolve the issue, but it didn't. The pain was just there and planned on staying. I was never sexually active until I got married last year. My first time intercourse was a nightmare and could not achieve penetration until a few days later of constant trying and using numbing creams like Xylocaine. My husband , who I dated for 5 years before we tied the knot, knew of my case and is so understanding and supportive. Throughout our honeymoon, we took things slow and we were very patient with intercourse, and instead just enjoyed everything else on our honeymoon Smile. Xylocaine helped but somehow its numbing effects no longer worked for me and would actually cause me more burning sensation.

After the honeymoon, I was examined by a gyno who knew exactly my pain and finally diagnosed me with vulvodynia/ vestibulodynia (which I internally knew I had). And this was a good start.

She first prescribed Kegel exercises to help me relax my pelvic and vaginal muscles during intercourse. She asked me to get off birth control as this was causing dryness and thinning of my vaginal walls. PS: birth control did horrible stuff to my sex drive and mood. Anyway, the Kegel exercises helped me relax and made penetration slightly more possible. She then put me on Amitriptyline (an anti-depressant) that works on decreasing nerves sensation so that I do not feel much pain in my vulvar area. It seemed to work well for the first few months, but the pain was onsetting again. She requested to up the dose (but so did the side effects), but the pain persisted. The Amitr. was a nightmare itself with all the side effects (constipation, fatigue, low sex drive again, etc.). I was tired of medications affecting my body and hormones and overall well-being. I discussed this with my gyno and she asked me to get off the Amitr. She suggested the use of Estrogen creams (since my pain was cyclical and dependent on Estrogen levels in my body). However, I was scared of using anymore hormone things given my cancer history. Although she assured me it is in local cream form and would not be absorbed into the blood, I decided not to use it. We discussed Botox and Laser injections as a last resort since I was not willing to take any more pills or creams. My husband and I discussed this and decided to let my body recover from all this and not do any further medical interventions for now.

One night, out of nowhere, it occurred to me to apply some natural pure honey to my vulva and into my vagina. So I started doing that right after my period ended (I flare up during my period and the horrible pain persists a few days after it ends). I applied honey for 5 days consecutively. I use half a teaspoon of pure bee honey and gently dab it on the places that hurt (vaginal entrance, into the vagina, and around the entrance) and leave it on for about 30 mins. I did this for 5 days and I found surprising comfort that lasted all month (I would then apply it twice a week for maintenance only).
The first 3 days of application (right after my period), the honey would stiing for 30 minutes when it is on and goes away when I wash. But by about the 4th day, applying it no longer stings. I feel the stinging pain is a sign of the honey healing irritated skin and providing moisture and growing the good vaginal bacteria.

Excited about this potential positive treatment, I tried this procedure every month (right after my period ends and for 5 days or more if needed) and found so so much improvement. It has been about 6 months now using this procedure and my pain level has improved by 80%. I used to feel a pain level of 8/10 or 9/10 during intercourse and now it is as low as 2/10 to 1/10 and sometimes nothing at all. Adjusting positions (like placing a cushion under my lower back) helps avoid a sensitive spot. Sex and intimacy are finally almost almost normal and super enjoyable. I feel like a normal functional sexual human Very Happy!

It is until today that I decided to share this potential treatment in the hope that it can help you ladies suffering like me. Usually people who find relief no longer share their success treatments and forget us suffering girls all alone here. So I made a promise to myself that if I find anything that helps I will post about it and hopefully it would reach a wide group and help. I just bought a jar of Manuka Honey UMF 15+ recently and I have been reading about its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties and how it is being used in Medicine to treat wounds, burns, irritated skin, etc. I have good hopes for this Manuka honey and I will be starting it after my period ends. I will keep you posted about its hopefully further benefits. Super excited!

To all you ladies here, I wish you heal physically and emotionally from this affliction. And if you believe in God, keep praying as God will not give up on us Smile If you decide to try pure bee honey or Manuka Honey, please let me know if it improves your condition!!
